In Putin's first speech he explained it. Ukraine is culturally important to Russia. Seeing it turn into another western client state is a slap on the face. Ukraine's military importance is being overhyped by both sides, especially given that the Baltic states are already NATO members.

It's very difficult for both Russia and America. If lots of Ukrainian and Russians start dying the war will quickly become unpopular. Meanwhile the west needs to balance their condemnation and punishment of Russia with their own public sentiment both pro and anti war. Biden is an old man and he's said very little about this conflict. His opponents will jump on any sign of weakness.

The worst is yet to come in the west. In the UK people are already getting gas bills that are 4x higher than what they normally would be, and that was before this conflict started.

I'm sure if America could go back in time, they'd agree to Russian demands about Ukraine. It's not like NATO is that relevant today anyway with China being the emerging power.
both Russia and US benefits from this war, the Ukrainians and Europe as whole are the sole losers

The Russians are getting visibly wrecked but this fight ain't over yet.
I don't understand comments like this. You do realise the Russian army is outside Kiev?

Before the war started no one would have predicted that Russia would already be at Kiev in one day.

It's amazing how effective western propaganda is. According to western sources Ukrainians are getting 10:1 kill ratios. Do you really think that is possible?

That's not a dogfight. Those two fighters banked right and then started flying straight (you never fly straight in a dogfight.) They're flying in formation. And notice how all the contrails (at multiple altitudes) are banking in the same direction. This area looks more like a launch point for stand-off munitions.

Its the lack of EW that's puzzling.

I don't see a "lack" of EW. In the opening phase of this war, Ukrainian radars/S300s were taken out, their air bases and command centers were hit, and major ground formations taken out. Then Russian ground forces breached Kiev in less than 48 hours. You don't get all of this without EW/ECM/AWACs present at +40,000 feet, in the rear.

As for comms, we have no idea what the state of Ukrainian mil-comms and crypto is. Civilian networks are a bad indicator to judge this. We don't know what Russia is jamming and what they are allowing (i.e. hacked into and monitoring.)

Hypothesis:

Ukraine stationed it's best troops in the East in preparation for an attack on the separatists.

The current Russian offensive was meant to lure those troops into racing back to Kiev so that the Eastern forces can gain control of the entire region with minimal losses.

Do we know that the best Ukrainian units were deployed in the East? Considering the geography (Kiev has no strategic depth), I'd think they would've positioned them between Kiev and the Russian/Belarusian border. And if that's true, they're already destroyed, because Russian ground forces are inside Kiev.

Listen Sean, can you hook me up with your agent? Or anyone else who can help? I got TV, film and stage experience, I can definitely do Comedy Central.

This is the same Sean guy who also worked undercover for US gov (DEA/FBI) to snatch/ambush/con El Chapo into doing an "interview" with him when reality they used the rare oppurtunity to capture and extradite him.... Sean faked as a journalist/press type but was working with USGov all along...
