True, but imagine how worse Ukraine would have fared without ISR support and faster time to react.
Might have actually collapsed on Day 1.
So Western support could be responsible for dealing thousands more Russian deaths.
i am not sure what they are getting from this data. as they losing so much area to small force. hardly any Ukranian chopper or drone in the air.
these are more mechanical failures. where things are abandoned. the Ka-52 are the older models.

If they cant (dont?) even use drones do you expect them to use AWACS and EW planes...

These past days have been eye opening on the state of the Russian military. They act like this is a 20th century war when we live in 2022. They should go and ask the PLASSF and PLAAF to understand what modern warfare is really about.

I am not saying that Russia will lose, but its performance so far has not been good

Caveat: Unless Putin decided to intentionally hamstring the military on what it is allowed to do
Russia has had AWACs and EW planes long before it had drones though. It is very familiar with using them.

The other thing is that yes, Putin is holding back. He has not yet used:

1. Any strategic bombers like Tu-22M, Tu-95 or Tu-160
2. Any EW/AWAC/ground command planes like Tu-214, A-50, Il-80
3. Much artillery at all beside a few SMERCH rockets

Whats the point of holding back on EW and AWACS?!?

It could be that Russian AWACs are optimized for air targets, and not useful for ground combat (i.e. US uses E-2 and E-3 for air, but E-8 JSTAR for ground). EW I have no idea.

Or we could all be BSing and nobody knows because Russian planes are all flying dark with their transponders off and nobody has air to air recon assets up.
