Abandoned Russian Tunguska near Kharkiv. This is an area where the Russian offensive came to an early stall.

Things are not going well folks. Situation is rapidly deteriorating

"AFP- Maria Zakharova, Russia's foreign ministry spokeswoman, told a Russian TV station Friday night that relations with the West "have reached the line after which the point of no return begins""

I am baffled by Russia's decision to go balls deep in Ukraine. Is it satisfying to do it? Heck yes. But as @MarKoz81 has noted in his excellent analysis, the best case scenario for Russia is to become a nuclear equipped henchman of the PRC. Is it really worth it for Putin to go all in and jeopardize Russia's hope for greatness?

you hate the West so much so you support Russia even when civilians are dying, supporting Russia less rather hating West more

but to get West back through Russia you are happy to see civilians of a 3rd party nation die?
The faq you talking about? It's war, and in war unfortunately people die as a result. No war regardless of preparations or planning is free from any civilian casualties or any unintended "collateral damage" (American sophistry).

NO ONE HERE IS HAPPY THAT CIVILIANS ARE DYING because we're not blood thirsty psychopath. But where is this "concerns for civilians" when the victims were mostly in the middle east? And in Asia (Afghanistan) were you this indignant and outrage? Were you crying this much when 10 civilians in Afghanistan was essentially liquidated by American airstrike? And since it shows that you're of Pakistani background, where is your concern when untold Pakistani civilian lives were unceremoniously became part (VICTIMS) of American War on Terror a.k.a. collateral damage.

Let's deal with reality and the extreme double standard most western leaning people of which you seem to be infected with seem to hold when it comes to civilian deaths during military conflicts. When it comes to the U.S. military invasions it seem that the victims aren't seen or remembered as HUMAN BEINGS but rather just part of the unfortunate realities of War. But whenever a conflict is started by another power that's a geopolitical rival to America, all of a sudden, the unfortunate victims and their plight becomes a prominent issue and that Russia or God Forbid, China must be held to an impossible standard of preventing civilian casualties lest it be accused of "being barbaric."

Hard to deny. We went through the list of possible sanctions super fast. What will we threaten Russia with if they really chose to go YOLO? What's to stop them from, say, selling ICBMs, or nuclear proliferation to offset their losses...

this is a joke right?

Royal Navy operates 4 x Vanguard Class SSBN each one can carry 16 x Trident Missiles each one has 5-6 re-entry vehicles it could nuke Russia 10 times over if Russia wants to brings nukes to the table
This comment is eerily similar to that joker of an "analyst" on Pakistani forum who keeps posting nonsense not to mention anti-China propaganda absent actual "analysis."

Where's the "British forces" now that was supposed to kick the Ruskies behind?

What's his alternative? Allow Ukraine to become a NATO stronghold? Russia would be screwed then.

In any case, this is only day 2. I think Russia is going to pull a Vietnam (as in Sino-Vietnam war, not US-Vietnam war) and withdraw after making his point.

I dont know which country you live in but there is something called International law and that would be a breach of international law and the Geneva convention

Russia will have to answer to International court at The Hague and all the evidence is being documented by independent regulators

Russia will never be allowed to get away with this and West will punish Russia very hard for this crime

banning Swift for Russia is the toughest sanction anyone can get hit with, 11,000 banks World-wide use it

over $2 trillion of Russian assets are about to be seized and Finland and Sweden are wanting to join NATO

total disaster for Russia, this was the most stupid thing Putin could have ever done
Finland and Sweden will never join NATO.

All that has happened is we're back to Cold War dynamics. Punish the enemy, but not enough that they'll do something stupid.

This will cost Russia, but not to the point that Russia will be destabilised. Europe will continue giving Russia billions of dollars in exchange for gas and Russia will continue supplying gas so Europe doesn't freeze.

The Americans have been poking the bear ever since the USSR dissolved with their colour revolutions and support for terrorists. This is just Russia putting America in check.
