Well gee, if the United States haven't spent the last several years antagonizing China with freedom of navigation operations in the SCS, Uyghur genocide claims, AUKUS pacts, Covid lab leak conspiracies, trade wars, Olympic boycotts, Taipei arms sales, debt trap propaganda, semiconductor tech suppression, etc, then China might have been more receptive to pressing Russia to avoid this conflict.
