Someone asked if drones were being used:

I suspect both sides are using UAVs, but the information is sensitive. They are simply too useful for artillery spotting if nothing else. I'm actually surprised the above it out, assuming it is real.

Some general comments:

1. It is surprising the Ukrainian air force is in play at all atm.
2. The Ukrainians seem to be holding their own in the east, but...
3. The Russian appear to be pincering from Belarus and Crimea. They appear to be attempting to surround the eastern Ukrainian forces.
4. Any expressing surprise about the air assaults followed up with armor should be ashamed. That has been Soviet, ahem, Russian doctrine since the 80s at least.
5. There is a TON of nonsense out there. It appears the social media wars are running quite hot. Keep some skepticism everyone.
6. Despite the Ukrainians not rolling over, I do expect they will get crushed in the end.

"Russian paratroopers have occupied Antonov airport outside Kyiv"
I find it amusing how orderly it seems and how the Russian commander of this op have spare time to talk to reporters.
After taking control I'm guessing the point is to then move in heavier vehicles via transporter planes, build up a force then move on to Kiev?

That's should be the plan, but then look at this:

US media is so excited its disgusting... Now they get to say "we told you so" to Europe, even though the US caused this whole thing.
Yea, the enthusiasm for war among the US population and the enthusiasm for anti-Russian actions, whether its war or sanctions or cancelling events on reddit is sickening.

I find myself wondering where all this "international law" thing was when the US invaded Iraq and Afghanistan.
I know there were protests but boy did the politicians completely ignore them...

As for the topic, it seems fightings gotten heavier over the day? Has the Ukrainian military regrouped?

The conversation probably only lasted like a couple minutes. Since, they weren’t fighting (not shooting) and the troops are more then likely competent enough to fortify their position without orders from the commander for a few minutes.

While China has been debating about invading or not invading Taiwan for the last 10 years; thinking up the perfect plan; waiting for the perfect moment, Russia just went ahead and blitzed Ukraine. Sanctions be damned. This entire war could be over in less than 48 hours.
I think China wants to govern Taiwan when all us said and done, while Russia doesn't want Ukraine, just a buffer state. So different end goals necessitate different strategy.
