Well, you got what you wanted. Unfortunately, this is exactly what the US wanted too: Russia out of Europe. And the US practically insured this invasion when they killed the Nord Stream pipeline yesterday. All that work Russia did to make in roads to Europe for the past two decades just went up in a literal puff of smoke... sigh...
But, it is what it is. I'll admit it, my hypothesis was incorrect. I was hoping Russia would chess-move it's way out of this box and continue to fracture NATO. But now, this is going to make NATO more cohesive and get Europe back in-line behind the US.... But I won't blame Russia either. I get the pressure its under. It's 'plan A' of fracturing NATO wasn't working. So it decided to at least block off the threat on its South Western flank first and worry about the rest later.
