They had it, they used it. People where sleeping on their screen and let it pass like a hot knife in butter. It's why having huge ships that cost a lot make nice targets. Multiple small ships would have been better in that small sea.

few days go they publish downing a drone but seem much smaller ship.
Slava class was pretty old to begin with. I don't see how losing this ship to Ukrainians armed with Western weapons are any surprises.
Seems the crew of the Moskva took the Ukrainian instruction to "go f- yourself" literally! And now Moskva is taking part in a "special undersea operation".

Yeah. Whenever something unexpecred happens I always lean towards human stupidity being the reason for it.
As you said, sleeping/playing around, probably thinking that they would never be targeted, thus they let their guard down and that's the end.
As always, training/discipline is the most important thing in a war. You can have the fanciest toys, but if you can't use them, they are useless.
Compare the cost of that ship (+ logistics/maintenance/training/crew/etc.) to the missile that mission killed it
What integration and training?
6 months before the war you "buy" two squadrons of WL-2 - I'm sure China would have loaned them for free. In the war they are operated by Chinese civilian operators, like Turks are operating Ukrainian TB-2s. Except as Ukrainian AD is largely suppressed they would be operating with impunity.
China gets real world experience of drone warfare, Russia gets free kills, even Ukrainian nazis get to go Valhalla. Everyone wins.
Russians are either too proud to use Chinese platforms or too dumb to recognise the importance of drones in modern warfare. Your own equivalent the Orion is not being deployed in numbers needed to make a difference.
