I do not believe that Russia will make any more attempts west of the Dnieper River beyond Kherson. Not even Mykolaiv and Odessa.
Strategically getting the Black Sea Coast under their control makes total sense. Secondly many Russians haven’t forgotten the events in Odessa back in 2014 where pro Russian speakers were killed. There is a large neo nazi force in the city. If they do not take it in this war the next one they will.

Random thought:

When this war is all over, Russia will have increased its total population by roughly 10 million people, going from 146 million to 156 million. So much for Russian demographic problems! I estimate they've added at least 5 million already with their conquests in the south and the east. Conquest baby, it pays off if you do it right.

actually no. adding a relatively small amount of pre-born population (6-10%), even if that population is of the right age composition and is particularly inclined to breed like rabbits, will likely not have a dramatic effect on the poor long term demographic outlook created by russia’s low overall birth rate and rather poor life expectancy.

Okey, you know what, this is some I can't just ignore.

Violence and aggression against civilians is NOT tolerable regardless of which side inflicted it. All victims in this conflict do NOT deserve to be victimized, that include all civilians in Ukraine (including Donbass region), as well as POWs. This is clear.

People might ignore you because of your crazy emotional attitude, but what you are pointing out shouldn't be ignored, even if the evidence might be shaky. This is because it is not an accusation (accusations are meaningless now), but rather a warning to both sides that they should watch out and make sure civilians not be harmed, as much as possible.

I don't care if you see me as a chauvinist pig, I will stand with you on this one, closely next to you. You will just have to bear with me for standing so close to you.

Thing is, the US has bullshitted so much about this kind of stuff before, it eventually becomes hard not to doubt any claim that somehow has their backing, specially when just a couple of years ago proof came out that the whole Douma thing was staged by US-friendly jihadist, which also had the backing of the UN.

Or how Gaddhafi was giving viagra and cocaine to african mercenaries in the south so they would go on mass rape rampage, who turned out be complete bullshit by Clinton and helped turn the country into a massive slave market, and this too initially had the backing of the UN.

Or that sobbing psycopath claiming to be a Kuwaiti nurse that during 1990 gave a speech in the US Congress claiming to have seen how Iraqi troops pulled out babies from their incubators to leave them to die on the floor and then turns out the psycopath was no nurse but the daughter of the Kuwaiti ambassador to the US.

It gets even more suspect when less questionable evidence of crimes in the Ukranian side doesn't get acknowledged or even a mention anywhere, not even to say "if those videos are true, we condemn the actions of those soldiers and they don't represent the ukranian forces" or what have you.

Instead what we get is a massive worldwide "Nazis aren't that bad campaing" and any disagreement is met with a "you just are a russian troll/bot".

That is not to say Russian troops haven't commited any crimes at all, because that would a lie, but certainly not in the scale or systematicism the west is trying to push right now.

Personally, my fave combat vehicle this war so far is BMD-4M. It's light, fully amphibious, has commander's hunter killer sight, gunner's day and thermal imaging sight, can shoot laser beam-riding anti tank missiles range 6 km, and the 100 mm rifled gun and 30 mm auto cannon ain't too shabby either. Personally, if I were Russian defense minister, I order thousands of BMD-4M and not a single main battle tank,

I don't know what it is but i have always have found that tech in Russia have this cool industrial Steampunk look and feeling.
from my point of view.

Russia: Industrial Steampunk
U.S.: Industrial Dieselpunk.
China (without Western media video filters) and East Asia: Cyberpunk.
Europe: Fairy tale.

I have to say, Russian restraint on use of airpower and heavy artillery in the east has it's logic. Russia is fighting a war of conquest, not annihilation or colonization. In the end Russia has to be the one to rebuild whatever parts of Ukraine it conquers and govern the people there as citizens. Historically, Russia makes the conquered into citizens, not colonies.

Meanwhile certain other countries tend to fight wars of annihilation or colonization, where they have no responsibility to the defeated who are displaced, destroyed or put under an exploitive puppet regime.

Cruelty against Ukrainians will make it ungovernable. Russia has to treat Ukrainian captured combatants and civilians (but not mercenaries) with respect: if Russia is cruel to them , their families will hate Russia. If they're treated with dignity, their families will be relieved and feel lucky that all that will change is some new management, new flag, new passport.

Apparently opposition leader and close friend of Putin Viktor Medvedchuk was detained in Kiev. Damn you would have think that the Russians would helped him escaped the capital. Wonder where his daughter is. If he gets executed I wonder how Putin would respond. Maybe that’ll wake him up from fighting this “brother war” with Ukraine and let the military fight this war with no constraints.
