Gradually, though painstakingly, as is the nature of urban combat, the Russians and their allies are gaining more and more control of Mariupol. It is safe to say that now the vast majority of Mariupol is under their control. Major concentrations of Ukrainian Military presence are now essentially limited to Azovstal and the Port, and in the latter, their positions are reported by numerous sources to be untenable and even certain sources say that they have been now overrun.
It have taken so long but the insane amount of big civilians buildings with numerous hiding places certainly didn't help.

Mariupol hasn't had as much fighting recently. I think the Ukrainians may have already withdrawn to industrial sites and the port. There are a lot of buildings to clear so it will drag on.
It is around there that most of the fighting is taking place. Probably the Russians are going to use their Tupelov Bombers against the factory to level it, followed by moving in combined arms, including infantry. If there are civilians there, it is most probably because they have been mostly taken there by the Ukrainians to be used as human shields.

The fighting in the Azovstal plant is going to be brutal.

If I was Russia, I would blockade it and let them starve and die. There is no use in entering that meat-grinder and wasting Russian lives
