Tibet? Tibet? Tibet?!?
  • Russia legally-recognized Ukraine as sovereign/independent after Ukraine declared independence post-Soviet collapse.
  • Did ROC/PRC formally recognize Tibet as sovereign/independent after Tibet declared independence post-Qing collapse? Heck no.
  • Ukraine has worldwide international recognition post-Soviet collapse, did Tibet have worldwide international recognition post-Qing collapse?
The difference is ROC/PRC never recognized Tibet as a sovereign state post-Qing collapse, whereas Russia did recognize Ukraine as sovereign state post-Soviet collapse. Russia violated two legally-binding treaties (1989 agreement, and Budapest Memorandum) when it violated Ukraine, whereas ROC/PRC simply pacified the separatists immediately. ROC/PRC did not violate any legally-binding treaties.

You Russophiliacs have only a modicum of understanding of history and will twist and warp any historical event to your favor.
You think that the Budapest momerandum allow foreign spnsored coup in Ukriane ?

A coup , sponsored by CIA and all bigger NATO country is a VIOLATION OF NATIONAL SOVEREIGNITY .

Granted, let's assuming you are 100% correct, even though there is some 'plausible deniability' involved by CIA.

Russia is free to respond proportionately and conduct its's own pro-Russian coup in Ukraine. Install a pro-Russia gov't via FSB-coup.

Whereas current actions is major escalation, rather than a proportionate response. What is stopping Russia from proportionately responding with FSB-coup in Ukraine?

For what ?

It was a civil war sparked by the coup from the begining.

The West Ukrainan side allways wanted military solution, ie. rolling over with tanks Donbas, and kill as many as possible.

As it looks like they started it few weeks ago.

What is your expectations ?

And generally, your resoning is undsound.

@Phead128 Why should we care about international law? Does international law protect China or do DF-41s protect China?

The Ukrainian foreign minister is currently whining to the UN General Assembly, pathetically begging others to fight his fight for him. You would undoubtedly find that riveting viewing.

Wasn't MMT (Modern Money Theory) that said debts don't matter to nations only to corporations and households? The same or similar applies to International Law... in that by definition the only means of "enforcement" ultimately stems from military power, or the ability and will of one nation to subject/impose its will unto another nation. The only real law is the laws of physics. In China's case, East Wind nuclear physics

There is no clause or article in the Budapest Memorandum that makes a foreign sponsored coup legal in Ukraine:

1. The Russian Federation, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and
Northern Ireland and the United States of America reaffirm their commitment to
Ukraine, in accordance with the principles of the Final Act of the Conference on
Security and Cooperation in Europe, to respect the independence and sovereignty
and the existing borders of Ukraine;

2. The Russian Federation, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and
Northern Ireland and the United States of America reaffirm their obligation to
refrain from the threat or use of force against the territorial integrity or
political independence of Ukraine, and that none of their weapons will ever be
used against Ukraine except in self-defence or otherwise in accordance with the
Charter of the United Nations;

3. The Russian Federation, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and
Northern Ireland and the United States of America reaffirm their commitment to
Ukraine, in accordance with the principles of the Final Act of the Conference on
Security and Cooperation in Europe, to refrain from economic coercion designed
to subordinate to their own interest the exercise by Ukraine of the rights
inherent in its sovereignty and thus to secure advantages of any kind;

4. The Russian Federation, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and
Northern Ireland and the United States of America reaffirm their commitment to
seek immediate United Nations Security Council action to provide assistance to
Ukraine, as a non-nuclear-weapon State party to the Treaty on the
Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons, if Ukraine should become a victim of an
act of aggression or an object of a threat of aggression in which nuclear
weapons are used;

5. The Russian Federation, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and
Northern Ireland and the United States of America reaffirm, in the case of
Ukraine, their commitment not to use nuclear weapons against any non-nuclear-
weapon State party to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons,
except in the case of an attack on themselves, their territories or dependent
territories, their armed forces, or their allies, by such a State in association
or alliance with a nuclear-weapon State;

6. Ukraine, the Russian Federation, the United Kingdom of Great Britain
and Northern Ireland and the United States of America will consult in the event
a situation arises that raises a question concerning these commitments.

The 2014 US sponsored/organized coup in Ukraine not only violated Ukraine's national sovereignty but also international law:

According to the

, the principle of non-intervention implies that the following acts should not take place: armed intervention and all other forms of interference or attempted threats against the personality of the State or against its political, economic and cultural elements, the use or encourage the use of economic, political or any other type of measures to coerce another State in order to obtain from it the subordination of the exercise of its sovereign rights and to secure from it advantages of any kind, organize, assist, foment, finance, incite or tolerate subversive, terrorist or armed activities directed towards the violent overthrow of the regime of another State, or interfere in civil strife in another State, and the use of force to deprive peoples of their national identity.
