According to the current definition NATO never got air supremacy in the Kosovo war.
Why 2022? The truth is in 2008 Russia invaded Georgia after Georgia tried to get Ossetia back. And Russia annexed Crimea from Ukraine in 2014 after the Euromaidan coup. After that Russia was sanctioned. They had to strengthen their economy to get ready for full blown economic war from the West. Like I said here before in 2014 Russia was still dependent on food imports from the West. All their bank transfers even inside Russia were done with SWIFT. All cards were Visa and Mastercard. Full blown conflict back then was way too hard. Plus they depended on Ukraine for things like military helicopter engines and cruise missile engines. Russia tried a calibrated response to Euromaidan coup. With the expectation that would have been enough to temper NATO aspirations. But since then, since Trump became President, NATO started pumping weapons into Ukraine. Now the US got Joe Biden as President. One of the guys in the Obama administration behind 2014 Euromaidan coup with a staff filled with people like Victoria Nuland. The Ukraine government grew increasingly radicalized. Russia had to attack before it became too difficult.

Russia does have air dominance. Air dominance is different from absolute air control.
I have all sympathy with Ukranians but they have to show competency.
