Gen Patraeus on the prospects of Russian defeat in Ukraine. He gives the Ukranians a fighting chance to repel Russians in Kyviv due to in his opinion woefuly insufficient Russian troop numbers to take a city of that size. He hopes they continue fighting for as long as they can in Mariupol to wear down the Russian war machine. His ending note unfortunately cast doubt on the soundness of his judgement : "The people [in Iraq] welcomed us ... I cannot imagine a situation where everyone hates you and much of the adult population is trying to kill you". Talk about drinking your own Kool-Aid.

It does make me wonder what to what extent these people really care about the Ukraninans ... In the words of colenel Douglas Macgregor: "The Ukranians are almost incidental to the operation" and that "they are there to impale themselves on the Russian army and die in great numbers" for the ultimate goal of destroying the Russian state and Vladimir Putin.

The plan won't be to go in Kiev like America went into Baghdad. It'll be like Aleppo. Cut off the city, open a humanitarian corridor and wait for a surrender from the garrison.

The day after the Kiev falls Mr Patraeus will be telling us "maybe we underestimated the Russians" and suddenly there will be a need to spend billions more on improving the American military.

That’s what happens when you weaponize the dollar. I can’t find the source but I swear I saw an article that the Whitehouse did not consult with the federal reserve before weaponizing the dollar.

Man, who the hell remembers Petraeus for any military accomplishments other than a fucking mess in Iraq and even bigger cluster fuck of a command in Afghanistan !?

This guys is among of many hyped and made by media US generals like fucking Patton.

So, therefore the Russians won't attempt to take Kiev... They shouldn't attempt to take it... It is not necessary... Mariupol, on the other hand, for both symbolic and strategic purposes necessitated that it be stormed.
