1) A lot of people in the US controlled West might be too far gone to rehabilitate. War is peace, freedom is slavery, reality no longer matters in their upside down fantasy world.

2) Deutsche Welle (DW) is a de facto trans-atlanticist (US) propaganda/misinformation outlet.

You just noticed? :) Why do you think Russia banned Deutsche Welle in Russia and stripped their journalists in Russia of press credentials after the Germans knocked RT Germany from Youtube? They are so unabashedly pro-US it is disgusting.
People like Ursula von der Leyen, the current President of the EU Commission, are also creatures of the swamp. She was born in Brussels to a career German bureaucrat.

I had hoped that DW would behave responsibly and correct its mistakes. My hope and expectations were misplaced.

Putin is smart. Russia would gain little. No need for this war. I would do what China did with Taiwan. Pass a law saying if Ukraine applies for NATO entry it is a reason for war. That will be good enough. I see a war probability single digits. A skirmish over Donbass/Luhanks can happen though.

I don't think it is that simple anymore. Passing a law would not be good deterrent when the US is planning to deploy more and more missiles in the front line. Both Russia and China are not please with the fact that the US is aggressively expanding its missiles and missiles defense system in their front yard.

The NYTimes are idiots as usual. They do not even bother to consider other leaders might have simply pressed the trigger if their empire imploded. If they think Putin is a problem they should wait until the leader after Putin. Putin actually tried to work with the West. But the West has just shown by its actions since the fall of the Soviet Union that Stalin's policy of buffer states and armed defense was the right course of action all along.
The West is not interested in a prosperous Russia. If they are going to beat Russia down every time it rises up, perhaps the next Russian leader will decide to pull the West down with him too.

Accusation of an attempted Ukrainian offensive into the LPR:

Let's see if she is correct: she claims it is false[*] and the Russian media will pick it up to run with it.

*. It does make little sense - in fact, outright stupid - to pick a fight you're totally going to get your *ss handed to you in, but then...Saakashvili.

The guys in the Donbass republics claimed they shot and captured saboteurs. If it is true we will see their mugshots in a couple days just like what happened in Venezuela with that American idiot. That anyone thinks the US is above doing sabotage or infiltration is kind of beyond me.
