Javelin is TV guided. It is quite common on aerial bombs since decades ago. It is not new tech.
So where's the Russian Javelin? Why do they need to copy it? Why are all the fangirls squealing over Russia having captured some? Or, just maybe, it's more complicated than a GD wire-guided missile.

Yeah they haven't and it's kind of mystery that all these decades they seem to never really interested in fire and forget ATGM.
They do demonstrate fancy mmwave radar seeker for the Kh-25, but seems to never field the missile operationally. Even their newest Vikhr is laser beamrider.

No. Javelin is Infra red guided, it's basically Igla or stinger but it kills tanks.
Could be as simple as it ain't cheap. Cheaper to put the brains in the launcher and keep the missile relatively dumb. It does have it's own limitations though. Also it's IIR while neither of those MANPADS are. IIR is not the same as IR. Not even the newer 9K333 Verba has an IIR seeker.

There is better condition. Accept Turkey in European Union with Euro replacing Turkish currency along with Germany accepting all the debts of Turkey. Turks have done more for Germany than any other country of Europe. 5 million and counting inside Germany.
so many European leaders have recently visited Turkey. i feel Anatoliya is replacing Strasbourg and Brussels.
That would be a huge geopolitical move by the EU.
And Turkey.
Not without immense compromises though. Free movenment within the EU, Erdoğan himself and such.
With integration between Russia and the rest of Europe all but gone for the foreseeable future this might actually end on the table (again).
The times sure are a-changin'.

Nothing special about the Javelin, it's 20+ years old tech at this point and not very different to the Kornet. Thermal imagers have improved considerably to the point you can get good ones that don't require cooling. Think about how much phone cameras have improved in that time period. Having to wait 5 mins for the sensor to cool down is a big disadvantage, as is the bulkier CLU, and battery life.

Disassembling one for "reverse engineering" is just a complete waste of a weapon. It's not the 50s anymore, having a component in your possession doesn't mean you can make it.

They're not going to cut him for saying China wont supply parts especially if they actually said that. I assume what actually happened is more likely one of the following

  1. China wont supply Western specific parts but can offer an alternative, he spun the story
  2. China offered parts, but not at exact ones he wants or at the price range, he spun the story
  3. The parts required was in heavy demand in China domestically at the same time, China cant offer
  4. China would supply parts, but towards contractors at a slow pace, as a bureaucrat trying to shift blame he refuses to be responsible and blames China.
  5. Incompetence, ran his mouth when he went to the incorrect or only a single contractor, took refusal as permanent.
