It's obviously a lobby group speaking for the West. There's a lot of so called think tanks like this in China. I actually doubt their counterparts could survive in the U.S. Too much freedom of speech...

So that's CNN, Washington Post, and Financial Times reporting the same thing "according to US sources".
It is fair to say that all these CIA-fronts use the same source which is the CIA. Now the question is if we trust the CIA to say the truth....
Personally, I would pay serious attention to this only if we get a second primary non-CIA source
Why is importing more food from West a bad idea? It was one of the few ways for China to import more and not have that level of bullseye. They can always export more of their own production or import more from other countries in the event of a sanction.

Hmm, if I were China. I'd be asking how is America get access to this source. Up to this point, US intelligence has been picking up Russian intel really easily. This puts China in a pretty awkward position, since it doesn't want to be seen as overtly helping Russia. It'd rather be seen as staying neutral.

That's pretty easy, Putin's system is a deeply corrupt one. It wouldn't surprise me if that spymaster he publicly dressed down is the one leaking and that Putin knows it.
As for China, it will do whatever it sees as in its interest and the West can go pound sand if it doesn't like it. It could sell ICBMs to Russia, in full view of the West, and tell them straight to their face that they're firecrackers. Effs given = 0, that's just how China rolls.
A lot of them will get killed or go back home once they come experience fighting a war where the enemy has air support and you don’t.

We started having intel reports about Russian Ukraine intentions from Spring last year. Then there was the whole end-of-year until war started where intel was leaking like crazy by the Russian side
Weren't there also rather high-ranked politicians/officials (such as in charge of w/e bank that didn't do that well in handling aftermath of 2014 sanctions)?

Anyways, safe to say that the US has quite a footing/hand in Russia at least.
