'Now' would be mostly Ok, because Harpoon isn't going until 2018, and in any case the RN's primary Anti Ship Weapon has been for the last 80+ years and will continue to be the Submarine launched torpedo. I don't agree with the decision to retire Harpoon without replacement, but it's not as bad as it looks. If we can use this decision to expose the Government's stupid penny pinching attitude to Defence then some good comes of it, and there are signs they are starting to realise the fleet is too small, hence talk of 5+ T31s for the future and extra OPVs. It's a small start, but it is in the right direction.

UK MSC are versatile good for AAW Type 45 long range AEGIS like in more 2 Ciws, Type 23 with 32 decent Sea Wolf replaced soon by Sea Sceptor Type 26 get 48 !
ASW, Type 23 more specialised have very good sonars with TL ofc and in general a Merlin, Type 45 embark in general a Wildcat can have 2 or 1 Merlin, good capacities

But need a long stick with a 114 mm which fired up to 20 km max vs a ennemy ships with SSM you see... in our time the missiles have replaced the big guns for power and have a more long range, necessary.

With recent RN decision deployed sometimes a warship in SCS thinking Type 23 or 45 but the CV is a big surprise ! it is a news !!!
For 2020 sure USMC can provide a F-35B Sqn, i don' t think more necessary and possible.
