Either Way the cutting out of the handle looks kind of Familiar. Early M16/ M4 conversions too the upper Receiver Rail used rails mounted over the carry handle but this made the optic ride very high on the weapon too correct this some were done by sawing off the carry handle loop and leaving the rear sight as the Back up Iron, kind of like these weapons later on the entire upper was manufactured with out the carry handle and with the rail in it's place. this allowed more use ability with different types of sight and different heights. seems like we may be seeing a repeat of the Modular weapons system Evolution on the Type 95

its urban ops for sure. one of my instructors in a course i took was the best urban ops instructor in Canada (other than the JTF2 guys cuz that's where he learned) and he used that kind of sight when he taught us urban ops. not exactly sure of how it works cuz i jsut used regular sight, but my best guess is that because in urban ops your firing stance is different from the convention way, so the specialized sight helps you aim better...not sure need some expert to explain this.

the strength of Iron sights is well there Strength, they are harder too break then optics. but Optics still have a major edge in combat as they are easer too line up on target after all a dot on the glass is easer too line up on target then a rear too a front and then target.
the sights on these rifles are or should be the same as any other Type 95 only that the carry handle has been ditched. what i was saying is that in the M16 that was done too and a rail was welded in to the carry handles place on that rail was then mounted a optic.
In the Case of the C7 a Variant of the M16, I have seen some pictures of them where a flat top upper was mounted and a Iron mounted about midway down the upper. Too get the most out of Iron sights the answer is usually two site placed as far apart as possible too get the best sight radius this is one advantage a conventional rifle has over a bull pup style in that the added length the system allows use of a ling line from front too rear sight. but here is the weird part of these pics there is no Rail. at least one one I can Identify as one ( there still could be the color of the weapons is mat black with new finishing and the lighting or quality of the image is hiding one.) but if not then why is it( the carry handle) cut off? one possibility is that they are about too mount one on the weapons at an armorer but they wanted too get the photos taken first or the guy who mounts the rails had the day off Odd but possible, they could have cut off the handle just too lighten the weapon these Chinese operators are in scuba and the rail might have been a bit too heavy or cumbersome with the dive kit. another might be that the Chinese are not using a rail mount but some new mounting technique like how the US Army cooked up the PCAPs. still in order too come too a conclusion, why we need more pictures and info

Anyway foreign media is saying that China will field the new variant of the Type-95 called "Type-95G"
The major Asian players are all researching on new firearms, with China having the biggest industry of firearm manufacturing out of them.
Basically its revolved and tweaked around the existing platform, improve on the following: ergonomic design (most notably would be the fire selector switch), barrel is heavier, internal mechanism ie. bolt be improved, improve the integration of under barrel launchers.
PLA has been using 5.8 rounds since 90's, tested first on Type 87, then the sniper variant QBU-88, then range of firearms revolving around 1 design was finalised. Carbine, LSW, AR.
Type 95 is front line rifle. 5.56 variant also made.
Type 03 made due to number of senior and political people doubting the design of bull pups.
Type 03 for paratroops and 2nd line troops.
2 variants of 5.8.
China has finally mastered picatinny rail tech? wtf, it took them this long? though they might opt instead on the chinese common rail.
From earlier pics and vids from distance Type 95 variant no longer had carrying handle, had retained new aim sights, though only difference that would be the biggest change is the fire selector repositioning which I couldn't see due to the distance of the shots.
Overall nothing that we haven't heard of or is new. except the designation of G, which is the only new thing in the whole article.

Then Why leave it black? Dummy rifles are a least here in the US done in colors like red and blue too keep it from being confused for the "Real deal"
