Looks like C-803. These photos show its structure well.
not really sure where to put this, but a new marine surveillance ship (I guess) is getting launched as 990

if you remember back a couple of years ago, they launched 991, which was China's first naval SWATH ship if I remember correctly. Looks like for this one, they are adopting catamaran design.
basically, it's an all alumium catamaran ship. It's 60 m long, 18 m wide, 5.9 m draft and has a maximum speed of 38 knots.
Looks like a commercial ferry to me. Australian commercial ferries are the genesis of this design. The Chinese acquired some when they took Hong Kong back and applied the design to FAC's. This one looks pretty commercial though. It would be interesting to see the stern, that would prove or disprove the point.
What do you mean they took designs when they took Hong Kong back? PRC boat builders have various business collaborations with Australian boat builders.
While it may look like a commercial ferry, that 990 pennant says its government owned.
.....
That hull form was developed by Incat of Australia. They have been building ferries on that hull form for well over a decade, it is their signature product. Here is their home page.
There were several of these in operation in Hong Kong when the British returned Hong Kong to China.

doesn't really matter what the Australians are using it for, PLAN has been using this hull form for a lot of stuff other than ferry, although they do have a design for transports. It may indeed be government owned. Without a stern view however it is impossible to determine what if any sort of surveillance mission it might achieve. It may be nothing more than a ferry for military personnel.

'hull form' ? I thought you were going to show reports of Incat working with the Chinese on this boat or they bought some parts from Incat.
Car A has same '4-wheel form' as car B so it took the design from car A. LOL
Have a look. China is using Incat's signature hull form. Their direct competitor in this class, Austal, uses a different hull form. This hull form has been around for two decades, long before the Type 022's or this thing.
At least give credit to the Aussies for their innovation. China emphatically did not develope that hull form.
