Not strictly a news item about Turkey, but given the TDK also uses the type (in the 1200 and 1400 T1/T2 variants) I thought of sharing here.
Was walking today down the coast of Faliro and caught a glimpse of one of our old subs getting moved to the site. It is going to be converted to a museum apparently, and will be positioned next to the venerable . (114 years old now).
The sub in the pictures is Proteus (the last of our four, commissioned some 55 years ago or so). HN was the first operator for the class, worldwide.
It was decommissioned back in 2023, after 260.000 nm traveled over its 50 year career in HN.
