I have a question for you and @Deino. I've always conceptualized the relationship between the US and its "allies" as an abusive marriage, where Republican presidents like Bush and Trump are the punching phase and Democratic presidents like Obama and Biden the flowers and chocolate phase of the abuse.

You're getting punched around the kitchen right now so it might not be the best time to ask, but I'll do so anyway: What happens when Trump is out and the Democrat shows up with flowers and chocolate?
What makes you think the GOP won't be in power for atleast 8 years?

Make love again in bed or even in kitchen?

You are unfamiliar with what the center left in the west think. Trump is rearranging the executive and purging the independent agencies like the federal election comission. For them the biggest fear is Trump turning their country into Hungary. They are not that concerned about Russia or Ukraine, but more about Trump and his cronies welding extreme power and target his own citizens.

Don't you ever try to police my speech when the subject in hand has repeatedly and unjustly threatened the future sovereignty of my nation (Canada). I speak on this motherfucker and his admin with the just rage his actions disserve.

EDIT: Furthermore, any perceived support for this admin of his behaviour is a direct attack against me and my fellow countrymen. So don't come in here and support that shit and not expect me to call you using any language I want. If you don't want to be looked at like traitorous fucking human piece of shit, then stop acting like a traitorous human piece of fucking shit.

The mods can say whatever they want about discourse, but that is totally performative when the actions of one threaten the future freedom and sovereignty of another.

LOL are you serious? Canada has been relying economically, militarily, and even politically on the US for, what, 50, 70 years now? All of a sudden you're outraged that some American demagogue wants to annex Canada? Sorry to burst your bubble man, but weak nations have always been at the mercy of strong nations. That's just how the world works. When you expect another country to take care of your security, don't come crying when that country decides to take a bite out of you.

That said, the more hilarious part of this is that, somehow, you appear to be taking Trump's words seriously. If the US was really serious about annexing Canada, we'd be seeing troops massing at the border instead of Trump blathering on. I find it really funny that you could somehow amass that much outrage over a piece of reality TV skit.

Can't believe I'm saying this, but Marco Rubio seems the most level-headed person amid this whole fiasco. He makes some really good points (from US pov obviously). Watch his interview with CNN
That’s because Rubio isn’t as stupid as he makes it seem. You have to remember, Rubio used to be a guy who put up a fight against Trump for the RNC primaries leading up to 2016. He’s also an ambitious guy who will do whatever it takes to get to his objectives, even if it meant using Trump and his MAGA movement as a vehicle. Probably would be a more formidable adversary against China, if he didn’t have to act like he’s in league with Trump and had real power.

Anyway, whoever Zelensky’s handlers are should be fired. He should have come into this meeting knowing he will most likely have to grovel or get on his knees to do the unthinkable. This is simply just how Trump is. This is the only way to have Trump hear him out with what he wants. If he was not up to the task, he shouldn’t have bothered with this and spared himself the humiliation.
