There is also the uncanny pattern of the US overthrowing democratically elected governments only to be replaced by dictatorships amenable to US interests. The motive for the US is clearly not just about whether a country's system of government is democratic.

I don't know anything about Chinese cars.

On our farm, we and our neighbors use Toyota and Ford Rangers as farm utility work vehicles. In the last 18 months or so SAIC has introduced the LDV T60 which has become a popular third choice option alongside Nissan. In fact, the demand for the SAIC LDVT60 exceeds supply.. I test drove one not so long ago and was very impressed, its off-road handling is very very good, definitely a workhorse and better than any previous vehicle from China and if they can maintain the standard with a few tweaks, it should get there.

If the US wants to be taken seriously as a democracy crusader, they should begin destabilizing and toppling Saudi Arabia.

But really. The USA is making it really easy these days to call out their bullshit.

Are you in Australia? heard that LDV selling well in Australia.

No matter the damage to China's economy, the trade war is a blessing in the long term.

So far, the US regime has resorted to

1. kidnapping a female cancer survivor CFO for leverage
2. murdering a prominent Chinese theoretical physicist (Shoucheng Zhang 55) on the same day as her kidnapping
3. creating a fire at ASML at the same time to delay delivery of EUV to China
4. cutting off supplies to Fujian Jinhua Integrated Circuit to sabotage its memory manufacturing operations
5. running black propaganda against Huawei for alleged (but never proven) spying allegations (while installing physical backdoors in American and European telecomm equipment to run the world's largest illegal spying totalitarian panopticon)
6. using protectionism under the paper thin guise of "national security"
7. ripping up agreements left and right
8. sabotaging the WTO by meddling with appointment of judges
9. being humiliated by any trade experts who know what they're talking about eg Stephen Roach

All pretense of human rights, due process, free and fair trade, and equality before the law are being shattered. No one wants to be subject to US diktat. Expect more tantrums from the sinking US regime as supply chains reorient themselves to reliable and fair partners.

Looking back, this shouldn't have been surprising. The US regime is an upstart nation "discovered" through genocide, built on the backs of race based slavery, enslaved and plundered the developing world through wars of aggression sold as "humanitarian intervention" and debt traps disguised as "aid" ().

Justin Trudeau really dropped the ball on this one. Now he's put Canada into a lose-lose situation. The Orange One is not going to suspend the steel tariffs even if we extradite Ms. Meng, and all hopes of trade deals with China has just gone down the crapper. I have a feeling old Pierre is rolling in his grave.

At this point, the best Trudeau, and Canada, can hope for is for the courts to quash the extradition and release Meng as quickly as possible. Only then will relations with China begin to heal, but even then the damage will be done.

Can't believe Canada was so stupid this time. The judge that authorized the arrest needs to be disbarred!

Do American arrest warrants need a Canadian judge’s approval to be executed in Canada?

I always suspected the arrest was a sneaked under the Canadian radar, and they didn’t really know what they were asked to do until it all hit the fan.

If that was the case, America probably just did some pretty substantial damage to not only it’s law enforcement relationships and agreements with Canada, but other allies as well.

I think China will make sure of it by serverly punishing Canada irrespective of what they do now.

Knowingly or not, the Canadians crossed a serious red line, and an example has to be set least other countries think its a good idea to kidnap Chinese nationals on trumped up charges on the behest of American officials.

All the rule of law and judicial process are pure BS. The ultimate decision rest with the Trudeau government. If the government makes it clear that it will not extradite Meng, the judicial system is not gonna waste time and effort to go through the charade
