In all of the instances mentioned, I would try and counter in the same overall manner, which is to use up China's obsolete 50's and 60's inventory as Drones or remote controlled machines, primarily for forcing such systems to give away their positions and become vulnerable to counter strike.

This accepts that such systems cannot be stopped from hitting, so make sure that they hit nothing of real value.

I am very glad to see the responses to my post. I posted this in hoping it would create some interesting talk about some of these modern weapon systems.

I think sampan your strategy may be somewhat effective against the avenger However I dont see were it would be used against the other two systems. I could just imagine a large amphibious warship off loading its troops when a thermobaric/blast/frag hellfire is guided right inside its hull. Man, could you think of the casualties it would cause not to mention the complete mission killing of the ship.

I say mission kill because this modern warhead on the hellfire with the Blast/Frag warhead is said to cause one hell of a overpressure blast that is said to be near the feeling of a 500lbs JDAM. This is just one scenario that is unlikely but could still theoreticly happen I do believe

did ROC get a new set of hellsfire, cause last they use it against a merchant ship, the missile make such a little hole on the ship, it was absolute ineffective and the last last time they openly test fire hellfire it completely missed its target.

Couldn't a glide bomb be enough to destroy these ground-based systems?

Also, these all seem to focus on ground-based systems. In reality it's possible for china to nullify any threat by never launching a ground campaign against Taiwan or only launch in select areas where they can use the LS-6, LT-2, and DH-10 to remove these systems.

The biggest threat I see these posing is as a guerilla warfare or attrition campaign.

with a total air dominance and precision bomb applied, and overwhelming electronic suppression from PLA, none of these weapons can work actually.

Well problem is that achieving total air dominance is not so easy, PGM are useful but as Serbs shown not exactly replacement for foot on the ground and ECM works bouth ways…

It's different from the Taiwan scenario. Even PLA artillary force can cover the whole island using MLR. And the main base is in mainland China, no limitation of throwing in the forces.

All their air force can be wiped out in hours, all radar signal sources will be bombed out of hell.

They still can use rifles, yes but not much use.
