PACIFIC OCEAN (May 14, 2009) An SH-60F Seahawk, assigned to of Helicopter Anti-Submarine Squadron Six (HS-6), the ¨Indians", approaches a cargo ship to retrieve Explosive Ordnance Disposal Technicians, attached to Mobile Unit Eleven Platoon Eleven Three One (EODMU-11 PLT 1131), after conducting a Vessel Board, Search and Seizure training exercise. Lucas during a medical evacuation board Surface Line Week competition in Naval Station, Norfolk Va. Both Sailors are assigned to the guided cruiser USS Normandy (CG 60) and competed in the search and rescue swimmer competition. Surface Line Week challenges Norfolk area Sailors against waterfront commands and units in a number of naval, morale and welfare activities. Surface Line Week is seen as an opportunity to promote greater coordination and communication among surface warriors, to build esprit de corps and camaraderie, and to recognize professional excellence across the force. ATLANTIC OCEAN (May 14, 2009) A Sailor looks on as a landing craft air cushion leaves the well deck of the multi-purpose amphibious assault ship USS Bataan (LHD 5) as Marines from the 22d Marine Expeditionary Unit embark. Bataan left her homeport of Norfolk May 13 for a regularly scheduled deployment to the U.S. Fifth and Sixth fleet areas of operation. Bataan is the flagship of the Bataan Amphibious Ready Group/22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit, which includes more than 4,000 Sailors and embarked Marines.
