Man that's a long time ago.. I was not in CC until after we hit Perth..I was only in CC for about two months. But I do remember those birds getting dowsed with saltwater...Man that is a time consuming evolution to clean that up.

I've seen a couple of the old Screwbirds when I lived in San Diego but that was some time ago. However I do not remember their names.

Oh man! How great was Perth??? ALL of the stories were true!

Personally I feel that the airstrikes could have been executed earlier, as requested by Iraq against ISIS when these jihadists were still fighting in some of the major towns. Now they are very much closer to Baghdad, and it could be "a iittle too late" as these terrorists have shown their prowess, reportedly in avoiding the US airstrikes. Obama's indecisiveness on several counts as Commander-in-Chief had not displayed good American leadership that we usually know.

Well...it's not "today," and all the RIMPAC 2014 festivities are over and the ships have all sailed away.

I have looked at hundreds and hundreds of pictures from RIMPAC 2014, and I have to say it was one of the best RIMPACS I have ever kept track of. The Chinese acquitted themselves well, and I believe they learned a lot while there, and also earned a lot of well deserved respect. They are a very squared away group of personnel...good sailors.

Here's two of several very impressive pictures of the photo op shots of the at-sea portion, showing all participating vessels. On the far top or left side, the second and fourth ships are the PLAN DDG and FFG...Toward the back of the formation is the PLAN hospital ship and AOR. Use the high res versions to zoom in on them. These pics would make excellent desk tops.

Great US Navy pic here.

DDG-1000, USS Zumwalt, right, outfitting, while DDG-1001, USS Monsoor, left, is building. Monsoor's hull is already almost complete, and awaiting the deck house which was just completed.

The most advanced and impressive air defence destroyer. Also it's great to see they are fitted with UK Rolls Royce's engines/propulsions. ;)
