Re: Today's US Navy Hi-res Photos!

I'll post up more pics soon as it wouldn't let me post many as I was getting an error.

Now it says I am over my quota whatever that means?

To post full size photos you need 15 post. When you do post use a photo hosting site such as imgur or photobucket. Jeff uses Flickr.

I remember you!.. Didn't I work for you for a bit? I was in C/C for a bit. I remember when the birds would get doused with a splash off one of the EL's and we would have to 'bathe' it. Break out the cans of that foul smelling spray cleaner stuff. What was that called? Man that was nasty stuff!

I remember one time, in heavy seas, I think we were coming across the Atlantic, one of the birds got doused on EL 1, and so we had to bring her into the HB and we all cleaned it. Schauss always sent me to clean out Avioncs bays. And it took like 2 hours and then we sent it up to the rook and as soon as they wheeled it out onto EL 1, it got splashed again! I was standing right there watching it go up on deck, and a big ass wave came over.

Do you remember Lee Baron? AME3 Barron? Well he and I were working at the same company and neither of us recognized each other. Then, I was going through my Cruise Book and saw him. A few weeks later I saw him (as he was at a different location) And I said "Hey Lee Baron... Were you ever in the Navy? " He says "Yes" I say: "Were you in VS-33 by any chance???" His eyes lit up.. "Yes.." I go "Were you on the USS America?" "YES?" I go "Lee it's me AT-3 Clare!" and we had a good laugh...

Man that's a long time ago.. I was not in CC until after we hit Perth..I was only in CC for about two months. But I do remember those birds getting dowsed with saltwater...Man that is a time consuming evolution to clean that up.

I've seen a couple of the old Screwbirds when I lived in San Diego but that was some time ago. However I do not remember their names.

Re: Today's US Navy Hi-res Photos!

Thanks for the kind words Jeff! And your Big "E" is beautiful! I have two of the same kit and started building it, but the scratch build bug bit me a few years ago when I started on the Arcadia. I still have her sitting along with the Nimitz and Kusnetsov right in front of my on the shelves! The Kus is almost finished and I built her very simply with no hanger or many aftermarket details. Just the brass.

I'll post up more pics soon as it wouldn't let me post many as I was getting an error.

Like I say, you are a craftsman.

Great work. Amazing stuff and I love the 3D printing!

I got a bug and embarked on a project about five years ago to build full Carrier Battle Groupsnforbsll of the modern navies that have them. I have a site where I am cataloging all of those builds:

Wow! Your work is amazing! Nice hanger bay on the "E". Great Lionang and Kuz...

Do you have plans to do a Wasp class LHD? I built the USS Wasp and fully lit her. I'll take some pics and post them up of her. I also have 6-7 Cruiser's and a Flight II Burke class, the Churchill in various stages of completion. They are the Dragon kits. All in 350. Your work is really amazing too. You should try a model from scratch. It's really not that hard. I mean, it's hard, but with skills like yours, you should be able to do it justice. I just went to your site and wow. You got a lot more kits than me! LOVE your work!
