The War in the Ukraine

This is brutal. DPR or LPR drones dropping grenades on Ukrainian trenches. It's rare to see soldiers look up to see what's bombing them. They usually die or forced to run, assuming the enemy is nearby. Video not to be viewed by the squeamish.

This is what Rybar has to say.

Against the backdrop of an information vacuum on both sides around the withdrawal of Russian troops to the left bank of the Dnieper, messages about the tragic situation at the crossings and the entry of the Armed Forces of Ukraine into Kherson began to circulate on the network with might and main.

If we discard all information of unknown origin, along with rumors and a “damaged phone”, then the following is more or less reliably known:

▪️The withdrawal of troops to the left bank of the Dnieper continues. In previous days , several formations with all standard equipment were already withdrawn in full force.

▪️There are no 20,000 servicemen accumulated at the crossings in Kherson. The actual number of troops remaining in the city is much less.

▪️Before the withdrawal of the RF Armed Forces, the positions and part of the objects were mined to slow down the enemy's advance. This paid off: in only one empty Aleksandrovka, the Armed Forces of Ukraine lost three units of armored vehicles and a platoon of fighters, wounded and killed.

▪️Reports about the approach of the Ukrainian units to the development of Kherson or New Kakhovka are also unreliable. In particular, in the Berislav sector, even at night, the Armed Forces of Ukraine were only in the vicinity of Melovoye and Novokair.

▪️Ukrainian formations are trying to strike at the crossings near Kherson and Novaya Kakhovka, firing entire packages of HIMARS MLRS at them. Russian air defense systems are working on targets, rocket artillery of the RF Armed Forces is also hitting the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the right bank of the Dnieper.

▪️Contrary to the information that appeared on the network, the Antonovsky bridge in Kherson was not destroyed. However, its undermining after the completion of the withdrawal of troops looks logical.

A complete picture of what is happening will appear only in the morning. And it is pointless to disperse information of extremely dubious content up to this point .

It's getting really ugly for retreating Russian forces they are getting annihilated at the crossing.

The evidence says otherwise but we'll see in the morning if Rybar was right or just coping.

The only thing the videos show is evidence of shelling which is already stated with Rybar, however flashes of light can also be an indication of Russian artillery firing back. There is also no evidence of Russian AD being pulled, and explosions can also be interceptions of missiles or bridges being deliberately blown up. Given that already 115k civilians have been evacuated, this would already imply that to some degree the Russian forces have already been evacuating in the previous.

The latest according to Rybar.

Chronicle of a special military operation: events of November 10, 2022

▪️The RF Armed Forces continue to withdraw troops to prepared reserve positions on the left bank of the Dnieper for the second day

▪️Thanks to well-planned actions, the RF Armed Forces managed to withdraw more than two thousand pieces of equipment.

▪️In Oleksandrivka , the Armed Forces of Ukraine could not occupy the dam and enter the settlement due to intense artillery fire from the left bank.

▪️Russian artillery works from the left bank on the advancing columns of the Armed Forces of Ukraine from the direction of Dudchan .

The organized withdrawal of troops is covered by dense fire, preventing Ukrainian formations from attacking the retreating units on the march.

▪️In Snigirevka , Ukrainian formations executed over 20 civilians who collaborated with the Russian authorities

▪️Assault detachments of "PMC Wagner" continue their offensive in order to cover Bakhmut from the southwest.

During fierce fighting, the "Wagnerites" managed to advance towards Andreevka and Kleshcheevka .

▪️After lengthy fighting, the Far Eastern warriors and the OBTF "Cascade" fighters established control over Pavlovka .

Ukrainian formations counterattack the northern outskirts of the village, trying to challenge control over the village.

Going back to the attack of the drones, this blog has an excellent description. 3M is the description of the enhanced Lancet drone or Lancet 3M.

The death of the Azov battalion* near Zaporozhye: details

On November 7, the 1st tank, 65th and 110th mechanized brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, as well as the 102nd and 124th brigades of the territorial defense of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, attempted an offensive in the Melitopol and Berdyansk directions.

To break through the positions of the RF Armed Forces, the forces of the 65th and 110th brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine involved at least three companies of T-72M1 and T-64BV tanks, about 20 BMP-1 and YPR-765 armored personnel carriers, as well as 15 Turkish Kirpi armored vehicles.

Two hours after the start of movement, the advancing units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were detected by the Orlan-30 drone in the areas of Kamyshevakhi, Yurkovka and Gulyaipol (150 km from Melitopol).

After being discovered, Su-25SM3 attack aircraft and Smerch missile systems with Motiv-3M homing ammunition attacked the columns of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Aviation cover and the destruction of the Buk and Osa-AKM air defense systems in the rear of the Ukrainian forces was carried out by the Lancet and Kub drones.

By 16:00, after three hours of work of rocket artillery and guns of special power "Malka", the Armed Forces of Ukraine lost at least five tanks and six infantry fighting vehicles and were forced to retreat to their original positions.

The 98th Azov Terodefense Battalion (Dnepr) suffered the heaviest losses. The unit was sent to the attack in civilian pickup trucks without armored vehicles and was one of the first to be hit by aircraft of the Russian Aerospace Forces.

* "Azov" - the organization was recognized as a terrorist organization by the decision of the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation of 08/02/2022.

I think we can agree that S.M.O. progress is slow or not going well, but a resounding failure? No need for hyperbolic inflammatory exaggeration please.

Russia has failed in the war. It doesn't matter how well she does in the regions she controls, the military disaster is enormous, the discredit of her army is the same. The image of an invincible military power is damaged. They may entrench the conflict, but not reverse this failure.

I don't mean that Russia is going to collapse or anything like that, but this war is a failure and a disrepute. They have not known how to measure and have underestimated their rival: the objectives that were set have not been achieved...

The withdrawal from Kherson will probably allow them to reinforce other areas, and balance the pressure on some fronts in the face of winter and entrench the conflict, but the damage to the image of the Russian army is very great, not to mention its arms and technology industry ( has needed to acquire material from Iran)... Its regional alliances (Central Asia are not going through their best moment), and you have NATO waiting for the entry of Sweden and Finland, and defense spending increasing in Europe, obviously these are not they were the objectives that the Kremlin had when it launched the invasion.

I don't know how this is going to end, but the victory that Moscow was selling is not going to be achieved because they have accumulated a series of failures that are difficult to ignore.

Two choices:

1: One of the big factor is the dam...Russian stay in Kherson, Ukraine blow it = no more bridges, pontoons, city and no water to Crimea. Troops are gone, no resupply possible. You loss troops and get nothing.

2; If Russia go on the east bank and leave Kherson city: Kherson need the dam for electricity and you don't destroy what you own....and Crimea receive water. Troops are bitter but safe. You got way more troops to get east of Ukraine.

I choose two.

I had been advocating Russia to concentrate East of the Dnipro, its just geographical sane to defend a territory with a moat in between. They just need to blow up all the bridges on the Dnipro and take the entire East. That would have made sense, but I guess they were more ambitious.

This engagement took place in the first week of November, and could be the source of the Lancet drone videos. An interesting mention is the use of Outpost-R drones, not usually something you hear. Maybe we are going to hear more about it in the future.

The offensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine near Kherson bogged down after the attack of drones: details p. Pravdino (23 km west of Kherson) in the Berislav direction. Before sending the armored group, the Armed Forces of Ukraine struck with M777A2 and FH70 guns of 155 mm caliber from Shevchenkov and Novogrigorivka.

However, it was not possible to support the offensive with fire throughout the entire stage: two hours after the start of the movement of the AFU equipment, the Su-25SM3 attack aircraft struck back at the positions of the M777A2 and FH70 howitzers.

After the air strike, the Armed Forces of Ukraine stopped their offensive on the southern border of the Kherson and Nikolaev regions and threw into battle units dispersed along the Novaya Kamenka-Polyanka-Sablukovka arc, 120 km from Kherson.

An attempt to break into the first line of defense of the RF Armed Forces in the area of Sablukovka, Kachkarovka and Sukhanov was supported by Czech RM-70 MLRS and Polish self-propelled guns Krab of the 406th separate artillery brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. An hour after the start of the offensive, the positions of the AHS Krab self-propelled guns were detected from a drone and destroyed by two attacks of Lancet-3 drones, after which the artillery support for the offensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine ceased.

At least a company of T-72M1 tanks of the 17th tank brigade, two motorized infantry companies of BMP-2 and The M113 armored personnel carrier of the 60th separate mechanized brigade, as well as at least ten Turkish Kirpi armored vehicles of the 128th mountain assault brigade.

After the detection of equipment from the Orlan-30 drone, the Giacint-B self-propelled guns and the Malka special-powered guns worked out on the marching columns of the Armed Forces of Ukraine from the artillery arm of Gornostaevka on the left bank of the Dnieper.

An hour after the offensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine stopped, 8 km from Sukhanov and Pyatikhatki, Mi-28N helicopters with Arbalet overhead radars and Ataka missiles attacked the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The T-90M tanks also took part in repelling the attack. The vehicles were used as a distant arm of the ground forces: tank crews received data on the movements of the Armed Forces of Ukraine from the Orlan-10 and Outpost-R drones.

The 128th mountain assault brigade and the 46th airmobile brigade suffered the heaviest losses. These formations were thrown into battle on VAB and Husky TSV light armored personnel carriers. After the artillery attack of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, the units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine retreated, losing 25 and 18 people, respectively.
