Yes, two Ukrainian planes were shot down yesterday:

- The Russian Air Defense Forces shot down a MiG-29 aircraft of the Ukrainian Air Force in the area of the settlement of Slavyansk in the Donetsk People's Republic, the briefing said.

- Later there was an accident and something went wrong: the Ukrainian Air Defense Forces destroyed their own SU-27 with queue number 38.

Been away for the long Bank Holiday here in the UK, so catching up with the events of the last few days.
I am getting the sense of a list of PR driven Ukrainian counter offensives, all of which are launched and which achieve some initial results (which get prominent reporting in the media) only for these to quickly stall, fizzle and be reversed with heavy losses but to minimal or no coverage.

I think I understand the situation on the Kherson front and I think I understand what has happened in Severodonetsk. I am confused however by the reports from Kharkov as many seem wholly contradictory. DPA is saying that the Ukrainians have crossed the river and established a bridgehead, but I don't see any mention of this anywhere else?
Anyone here any the wiser?

What's with Ukrainian fascinations of holding out in industrial area?
First at Mariupol and the second in Severodonetsk.
This situation could have been preventable if they just withdrawn from Donbass/Luhanks to a more better position

Pretty sure Ukrainians already claimed to have crossed Severodonetsk river from Kharkov theatre for the past couple of weeks ago and most of them from what i know have been repelled by the Russians

What I find surprising is that Ukraine still has such large jets intact three months into the war and is able to get them airborne without Russian interference and fly them all the way to the Donbass.
Well if you hide your jets in sheds of course they won't be destroyed until you actually decide to fly them.

More curiously how is it that this friendly fire happened? When you look at number of sorties RuAF is making daily vs numbers that Ukrainian air force is making the numbers are decidedly one sided. Yet RuAF rarely loses any planes these days but this guy decide to take it to the air today and is promptly shot down by friendly fire?

RuAF got some special way to avoid air defense radar or something?
