The War in the Ukraine

In 1894 Japan invaded China and took Taiwan. Russia didn't care. That only emboldened Japan to invade Russia in 1904 and took South Sakhalin.

Of course, China cannot afford Ukraine to invade and occupy Russia using American supplied weapons. If China does not care, then China will be next when America orders Ukraine to invade China after taking over Russia.

Therefore, it is good China is supplying military technology to Russia to fight back.

Russian doctrine is really bad. Plus they had no combat experience. This war really rejuvenates not only the Russian military but the entire Russian population. Russian birth rate must be very high by now.
Huh?? Literally nothing here makes any sense.

1) Russian military doctrine is fine for the most part. Artillery is the deadliest force on the modern battlefield; it caused at least a plurality and probably a majority of all combat deaths in both world wars. The Russians like to prioritize their artillery above all else. Russian artillery forces have brutally hammered the Ukrainian army during this war, especially the Krasnopol. Look at the fangs on that beast. Now, Russian strategy for this particular war was really dumb starting out, and the Russians paid dearly for it. But they've learned since then and are doing better now.

2) Russia had plenty of combat experience going into this war. Many Russian conscripts sent in definitely did not, but that's a different story than talking about the entire Russian military. However, the importance of combat experience is vastly exaggerated and poorly understood. Having experience shooting at some poorly defended chaps in the middle of the desert doesn't really prepare you for a massive conventional war against another large nation. In that sense, Russia's prior combat experience in places like Syria was useless. You can say the same thing about the United States in its wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. Defeating a weak and isolated nation won't mean anything if the Americans ever go up against the Chinese, which will wipe away the surface assets of the Seventh Fleet in a few days.

3) This war will have no major impact on Russia's low fertility rate. It may even drive it down a bit further.

What China can supply Russia to fight back against NATO eastward expansion include AH4 155mm howitzers, Wing Loong 2 attack drones. Wing Loong 2 performed quite well in Libya and stopped Turkey backed Tripoli from taking Sirte.

This is a permanent war. Russian strategy is good. Keep a small portion of deployed force engaged. Rotate. Rest. Repeat. Ukraine is becoming stale in western MSM just like covid. People are losing interest in it. This means by the time 2024 election rolls around Ukraine is not an important election topic. Meanwhile, Ukrainian army is burning itself out with forced conscription, and running out of fuel to conduct offensive. Russia has 4 times the population of Ukraine if not more. Russia can play the long game without damaging its own economy with a mass mobilization. Russia has plenty enough volunteers who are motivated and well trained. Hundreds enter Donbas every week to take part.

Just in short ... as promised: Deino is out. I'm only a reading member anymore. This mess is not manageable but against my advice I was overruled and so I took the consequences. May others take care of this mess as they promised.

Russians are doing recon with MBT or moving with MBT without recon... and they go booom. Maybe drone don't do a lot in damage but they don't go boom if they are forward of the battle group, making them tip of the spear, opening the way for the bigboys.

Why not use MBT as drone ?

Russians has piles of old T-72s resting in long term storage, pull out few hundred, install a 1000 $ worth of remote control relayed with orlan drone, and afterwards just punish the ATGM teams.

A "droned" T-72 cheaper than an Orlan .And if doing the resurection properly next to imposible to distinguish from the manned ones.

And this is waaaaay better to spot the ATGM teams.

I would rather this thread was locked and you were back, FWIW. Even though I post on this thread a lot, it's not why I come to SDF.
