The War in the Ukraine

Also, China and Russia should sign mutual security treaty. If America arms Ukraine with thousands of M1A2 and F-16 and orders Ukraine to invade and annex Russia, then China must enter the war to prevent Ukraine from invading and annexing Russia.
1. You're a troll.
2. Russia can handle NATO fine all by themselves. If things really got bad for them in the Ukraine as has been mentioned Russia will start delivering free energy to western capitals in the form of instant sunshine. They have been very clear on this. Yes, I know Russia will probably be wiped out too.

Giving Ukrainian conscripts 2 day training courses to operate NATO equipment and then sending them to the frontlines is just more meat for the grinder. It takes months to train soldiers, not days. And that's overlooking the glaring deficiencies NATO have demonstrated when training foreign soldiers since their inception.

All NATO are doing with these arms supplies is a voluntary disarmament. There's no way they are going to be able to rearm in the coming depression without lowering living standards even further. From the perspective of China (and 90% of the world's population) that can only be a good thing. Once NATO have ran out of equipment to send and have ruined their economies they'll realise they don't want to die in a nuclear MAD. They'll go to the negotiating table and give Russia whatever they want to calm down.

Why not use MBT as drone ?

Russians has piles of old T-72s resting in long term storage, pull out few hundred, install a 1000 $ worth of remote control relayed with orlan drone, and afterwards just punish the ATGM teams.

A "droned" T-72 cheaper than an Orlan .And if doing the resurection properly next to imposible to distinguish from the manned ones.

And this is waaaaay better to spot the ATGM teams.

Russian doctrine has been for show but not practical. Expensive fighter jets and tanks but little practical value. Only recently Russia started deploying combat drones. Only after Georgia war did Russia acquire MALE drones from Israel.

Instead of T-72 drone I propose drone pickups armed with Kornet launchers. Way cheaper and more firepower and can be built in the hundreds of thousands if not in the millions.

I said that in the last thread, and one of your comrades said they were "in development".
It's the future in my opinion, being a tank crew in modern warfare is way too dangerous.

Teenage xbox kids playing tank commander games are the future soldiers.

Just in short ... as promised: Deino is out. I'm only a reading member anymore. This mess is not manageable but against my advice I was overrules and so I took the consequences. May others take care of this mess as they promised.
I feel so bad for chasing Deino away by joking about his serial number obsession!

Welcome to the Forum Yommie but you need to familiarise yourself with the rules enforce on this thread to keep it on topic and in good order.
You will find them on the top of page one of this thread.

Deliberate riling of other members and divergences into History and Politics are unwelcome. This is a military thread on a military forum and deals exclusively on military/battlefield matters.

Sorry to hear that - one of the many casualties of this Russia-Ukraine conflict. I do hope you continue to stick around and contribute, not just read.

The place where China can really hurt America is in eastern Ukraine. Also, Russia being a neighbor of China is vital to China's security. If Ukraine invades and occupies Russia, it would be detrimental to China's security as the US can use Ukraine as a battering ram against China.

Ukraine does what the US tells it to do. Remember how Ukraine snubbed China by rejecting Motor Sich sale to China. That was America ordering Ukraine what to do.
actually, china can’t hurt America very much in eastern ukraine, because ultimately ukraine doesn’t matter that much to America. America is only there because there are 30 million ukrainians willing to take a bullet for American and American has a moderate desire to not disappoint them.
In 1894 Japan invaded China and took Taiwan. Russia didn't care. That only emboldened Japan to invade Russia in 1904 and took South Sakhalin.

Of course, China cannot afford Ukraine to invade and occupy Russia using American supplied weapons. If China does not care, then China will be next when America orders Ukraine to invade China after taking over Russia.

Therefore, it is good China is supplying military technology to Russia to fight back.

However, Russia is forced to pay a continuous price for defending Snake Island, and the capture of Snake Island has far more symbolic than tactical value for Russia.
It is a solid place from where they can survey air and marine traffic from NATO countries along the Black Sea coast. It is quite important strategically I think. And so far Ukraine seems to be losing more resources attacking than the Russians defending it.

If the Russians are using stock BMP-1s then they deserve to lose. Those tanks seem to have Soviet style paint scheme. AFAIK the only units using stock BMP-1 are either Ukraine or the Donbass militia. And I never heard about the militia having proper combat engineering units. So I would say with reasonable amount of certainty those are in fact Ukrainian units.

Of course, if I were Russian commander I cruise missile every power plant in Ukraine and send Ukrainians back to the dark ages. No fuel, no heat, no electricity, no running water, no modern agriculture. Millions of Ukrainians would starve but it is war and war is ugly.
The Russians control the largest nuclear power plant in Zaporizhzhia. If they wanted to they could just shut down the whole power grid to central Ukraine quite easily.

To be honest I rather have a bunch of Tigr based tank destroyers and air defense vehicles than a bunch of main battle tanks.
I wouldn't. The Tigr is really susceptible to ATGMs and rocket propelled grenades. It will be useful for controlling areas where they already removed heavy equipment from, since you can move more quickly on paved roads with a wheeled vehicle. As for MBTs I think Russia needs to move T-14 production forward more quickly.
