On the central front, the same:
The pattern of Russian defenses in the region has been like this:
Spetnaz or Rec from the VDV conducts reconnaissance, detects AFU troops and relays the information;
VDV troops retreat in order and further stretch AFU troops' lines of communication;
From there, having been buoyed, the Russian artillery goes to work to suppress enemy fire;
They reach a limit, the VDV stops and, with the support of motorized troops with tanks - Motorized and Cecanized brigades of the Russians are in the second line of defense, the first is with the VDV and the Spetnaz - they return and counterattack;
Artillery changes profile from Suppression to Destruction; and
Spetnaz work on the lines of communication to destroy or disrupt flow on the lines.
That's basically it, it's standard. The AFU attacks and always takes one or two villages and advances for a few hours, until they are counterattacked and have to retreat almost desperately.
Yesterday I took the day to look at reports from pro-Ukraine journalists (including those here on the forum) other than white plate - like the Kyiv Post and Warmachine - and the situation seems to have gone from critical to desperate. It's been more than 72 hours since the start of the Ukrainian offensive and the territorial gains are almost negligible, they haven't even managed to get past the first lines of defense. According to Jihad Julian, the Ukrainians activated all reserves in less than 8 hours from the start of the operation, so the losses seem to be catastrophic for the AFU side.
I wonder if they will have shock forces to continue the offensive, I doubt it.
Others:
That's curious. An all-weather reconnaissance capability that the Russians are using, the Russian military's weather factor detection problem will now solve with the help of a highly automated "Ironiya" multi-purpose handheld optoelectronic reconnaissance complex. With the help of such equipment, soldiers of special forces will be able to solve various tasks related to the observation of the terrain and the detection of various objects. In addition, the capabilities of the complex allow not only to identify various objectives, but also to transfer data about the enemy's position.
Another interesting thing is this here.
Logistical support towards Kherson. Two containers with 9M82 series missiles being transported by trucks towards the southern front.
Russia's MoD in every war report mentions shells intercepted by AFU artillery, somehow the S-300's work is being quite intense on that front.
