If the Russian claims are somewhat accurate or true then it doesn’t seem like Ukraine commit all that much into the offensive. Either they don’t have the resources for a bigger one or this offensive was a PR move to satisfy the western media that was parading it a few weeks earlier.
Nah it's a total victory for Ukraine, CNN say it ! They have liberated 4 villages from the occupation, the village names are Nova Dmytrivka, Arkhanhel's'ke, Tomyna Balka and Pravdyne! yeah... what a gain... Pravdyne is near Mykolaiv and I don't think the Russian where this far anyway, lol...

The cynic in me thinks that Zelensky is doing a dog and pony show to make sure the NATO paymasters are still happy and footing the bills.

Only if it works though. One would think a failed counteroffensive wouldn't do him any good on that front?
For one thing you're not supposed to telegraph where you are going to attack month in advance and keep mentioning it in the news everyday. You don't see the Russians go "guys we're going to attack you at Popasna after we're done with Mariupol, get excited".

Zelensky gets brownie points for still trying though.

The West loves a good underdog story. Even if the underdog loses, it would be next to sacreilgious to cut the underdog off.

The Ukrainians crossed the Inhulets River again towards Andriivka, the Russians retreated and bombed. Which demonstrates that the AFU makes the same mistake over and over again.

Ka-52, Mi-28 and other aircraft take off from Crimea for strike missions against AFU troops. There are already videos of Russian heavy bombing of Ukrainian troops in the open, it is a large-scale offensive at this point by the AFU, but there is no way it can work.

Other points were north of Kherson's defensive line, but they were unsuccessful and they retreated. The Ukrainians issued a statement saying they had liberated 12 villages, but that was more than 24 hours ago and there is no video of any of them.

A Ukrainian source said the hospital in Mykolaiv would be completely overrun with wounded. It is extremely unlikely that the AFU will have any success against the VDV and Spetnaz in the region. Not because these troops are invincible or anything like that, but they are extremely mobile, they can quickly retreat into the open, drawing AFU troops into Russian artillery kill zone range without taking any damage. The AFU does not have the artillery to catch the retreating Russians, as they will already be suppressed by the huge disadvantage in the region in this regard.

Outside of having no air power to stop the attacking helis and Su-25s ending their service in the theater of operations.

It seems to me that this attack was an attempt by the AFU to draw attention from the Russians in the region who advanced in three directions from Oleksandrivka and took Blagodatnoye, practically pinning Mykolaiv, if the Russians maintain this offensive idea. The truth is that this Russian action came as a complete surprise, as no one expected it. The regions taken by the Russians still had resistance.

Someone pointed this out elsewhere but it looks like the US admitted that it was basically the Ukrainians shelling the nuclear power plant. The official is probably from the Pentagon because they redacted his name and position other then saying senior military official while the other one is called senior defence official whose probably DOD.

And I don't want to say that the Ukrainians haven't fired in that vicinity either because I think there's probably a likelihood that they have, but in good -- in a number of cases, it's returning fire of the Russians who are firing from those locations.

Maybe it will be the moment that the Russian storm Mykolaiv into the retreating Ukrainian forces... It would be a decisive battle for the south for sure.

Miami has started a guns 4 Ukraine programme. This is a great idea and should be made nationwide and mandatory for all Americans. Anyone who opposes it is a Putin supporter, why would an American need a gun more than a Ukrainian who is fighting off hordes of evil Russians?

It's a bit wierd that they're asking for shotguns as well, being that those are illegal to use in war. Never mind that, slava Ukraine!
