According to RT, Zelensky posted this photo on social media on May 9th. He soon deleted it. His MoD also posted the same photo (also deleted later). In that photo, the Ukrainian soldier was wearing the symbol of Totenkopf.

reserve. My question is: what are the Russians waiting for?
They are waiting for the ground to harden.
They launched their offensive when the ground was frozen.
Now the ground is mud, the ground will start to harden late May early June. Until then the Russians are limited to pushes along roads.

The fact that Ukraine are resorting to extreme low altitude flights tells you that Russians do have air superiority. They had to use the deputy commander for naval aviation for that mission so they're likely short on manpower at this stage as well as equipment. He died in an A2A engagement according to the Ukrainians.

Russians have naval infantry, but I'd imagine they'd deploy regular forces first.

I agree that the Russian military is underfunded for what it aims to achieve, but we see that in delays/stalled new projects. The corruption isn't the type to make 100,000 soldier disappear.

It can make their equipment disappear or in best case be unusable for combat operations.

His radar was still turning big time after the strike on the video and the exhaust plume of the ship was still clearly visible. I don't know what the missile hit but the Tor at the front was not destroyed and his radar was active before and after the strike.
There is a more complete version with the original voice.
Voice behind hurries the operator telling him that it's trying to come online.

I frankly doubt it would've worked for Tor (it isn't designed to operate on a ship, especially on a small, flat-bottom assault craft, thus I doubt it could hit anything ), but it explains pretty well what've happened there.

It's not about it operating air defence or not, it just mean it was not destroyed if that flimsy antenna was still there turning after the strike.. IR video always look more catastrophic than realty. Do the more complete version show the boat capsizing or something? If not that Tor have probably been unloaded on the island.
