The War in the Ukraine

As an army power and always emphasizing the strength of the tank - armored force, the Russian Army currently has the largest fleet of main battle tanks (MBTs) in the world. In the initial stages of the current confrontation between Russia and Ukraine, the Russian Army's tanks and armored troops sustained significant damage.

How many tanks has the Russian Army actually lost since the conflict between Russia and Ukraine started?

Still a mile better than Oryx figure of close to 1000 Russian tank losses
Someone needs to compile the amount of tanks that Russia produced for, for example, India over a multi-year period.
If i remember correctly Russia produces
around 80-90ish T-72s yearly in peacetime, tho in wartime i think the number could exceed to around 150ish
Nah, I still doubt use of any kind of nukes.

Maybe something like FOABs? Or bigger targeting of western units (former military personel, volunters, CIA operatives and the likes etc.)?
Wasn't FOAB only like an experimental tech? Doubt it would be deployed

The security situation throughout Ukraine continues to be violent and unpredictable due to ongoing military attacks by Russia, with active fighting in country and uncertain safety conditions. The U.S. Embassy urges U.S. citizens not to enter Ukraine and those in Ukraine to depart immediately using privately available ground transportation options if it is safe to do so. Avoid large gatherings and organized events as they may serve as Russian military targets anywhere in Ukraine, including its western regions.
Curious recommendation, they know something big is coming?

I expect the Serbian president to know what he is saying.
Russia will escalate in ways that will stun Kiev and the Anglos
Russia will likely go all out to take the Novorussiya lands to break Ukraine and likely shut off gas to Europe to plunge their economies into depression. And likely targeting Ukraine critical infrastructure(water and electricity) to further the collapse of the Ukrainian state.

This is valuable information. Power weight ratio appears to be highly important, as well as wise use of tank tactics that assume worst case scenarios.

Fully loading on ammo makes the implicit assumption that the limit on effectiveness is ammo amount, not survivability. That means the Ukrainian tank crews actually believed that Russian antitank was utterly ineffective and their biggest worry was not having sufficient ammo. Huh???

As with all choices, it’s a trade off between crew survivability and combat persistence. Fewer rounds in the tanks means your tanks will have lower combat persistence but much greater crew survival changes. Which matched the reality that Ukrainian tank crews are getting attritioned to shit while Russian crew losses are probably fairly low compared to the number of tanks they have lost.

You are reaching the wrong conclusion because you are not considering several critically important factors, such as logistics, deep strike capacity, combat posture and command attitude between the two sides.

The Russians enjoy good logistics support now that they are fighting this war properly. More importantly, they enjoy both air and artillery superiority and are the side on the offensive. This allows the Russians to dictate where and when major engagements take place.

The significance of this is that Russia has the luxury of being able to focus their armour for these major engagements while Ukraine needs to spread their armour out and won’t realistically be able to expect to be able to mass forces and reliably resupply during major combat operations.

That means the big downside of carrying fewer rounds per tank is massively mitigated for the Russians, since they can expect to have more tanks, and can expect to be able to easily rotate tanks in and out of combat as their rounds are depleted to rearm and come back without negatively affecting the momentum of the offensive.

Also, given the zero-shits-given attitude of the Ukrainian leadership to massive Ukrainian troop losses at the front, it’s really no surprise that they will give zero fucks about their own tank crew survival and demand maximum weapons loads.

The Missle Threat Awareness security alert by the US Embassy in Ukraine was release just yesterday, i.e. 14th July 2022.
It has to do with Russians bombarding civilian infrastructure big time in recent days. Because even in Runet they were mocked after all this numerous impressive Ukrainian strikes on ammo depots and Russian command centers so they had to do something. Because hitting Ukrainian military infrastructure (like ammo depots and things like that) is extremely hard now for Russians as it's massively dispersed they had to show that they're doing something and aren't sitting back. In Kharkiv for example they're shelling the city everyday. They take a Pion, aim at something and, as they're aiming for about 40 km, wherever it lands it's good. And it usually lands on people's houses as you might expect. It's similar to tactics to what Nazi Germany used with their rockets on London during WWII - break the spirit. And we all know how effective it was.

In short - it's not safe because no one knows what object Russians will attack today.

Ukrainians continue disrupting Russian logistics hitting every night 5+ ammo depots which sometimes ends with impressive blows just like yesterday in Stakhanov

After so called "HIMARS o'clock" videos like this are popping up on Telegram on almost daily basis.
In other news - Mr Putin called Duma representatives from vacation and yesterday signed about 100 bills which are aimed for transformation into wartime economy.
