EW seems really intense though and it's affecting regular FPV drone usage, wire guided drone was quite farsighted development in this regard.

So the Kursk Safari continue with renewed vigor, still wonder what Ukraine expected from this ? Desensitizing the west seems no longer a strong point as those watching in the West also can watch they got mauled and routed in the process. Russians in other hand doesnt seem to be in a hurry.

The first footage of the Ukrainian offensive on the Kursk region of Russia on January 5 has appeared. There is little video yet, the offensive was carried out in several directions, the main direction of the attack was the area of the Berdina farm in the Kursk region. Tactics, an attempt at a quick breakthrough of motorized units and the capture of populated areas. The Ukrainian army uses M1A1 Abrams tanks, T-64, Stryker armored personnel carriers and other equipment. Communication repeater drones are used. German armored evacuation vehicles Bergepanzer are used to clear minefields. It is worth noting that Ukrainian armored vehicles are equipped with electronic warfare systems to combat drones. Some models of Russian FPV drones lost communication because of this, it was also reported that this was due to the long range of the drones. Ukrainian units are opposed by Russian units of the Russian National Guard, special forces "Akhmat" and other units. We will not provide data on the losses of the Ukrainian army, since they are contradictory and there is very little video footage now. It can be said for sure that the goals of the offensive have not been achieved at the moment, Ukrainian units have presumably reached the outskirts of the Berdina farm. According to the Ukrainian media, they entered the farm, but no video data has been shown to confirm this.

The column coming from the south is the Russians with one tank and three MT-LB. As they approach the bend, two Ukrainian tanks are standing to guard the pass. Both encountered other that seems to surprise each other. The Russian tank however got it's wits together faster and shot towards the glacis of the first Ukrainian tank. However due to the elevation and the shape of the road, the shell hit the top of the road instead. The first Ukrainian tank gathered it's wits and fired, also towards the Russian tank's glacis, but managed to hit the same spot of the road the Russian tank did, which suggests the road is uneven. The Russian tank fired again, and this time the shell went underneath the Ukrainian tank. Somehow the Ukrainian tank didn't fire, and the Russian tank fired again and this time nailed the glacis.

The Russian tank started to fall back fearing the second Ukrainian tank would fire. The Russian tank fired and grazed the second Ukrainian tank which begam to fall back and disengaged. Later not shown in the video, FPV drones struck the second tank.

There seems to be the factor of inexperience in both sides, or the lack of experience in close combat. Much of the combat in the war has been one artillery, drone and missile strike after another and rarely has there been a close encounter. But when a close encounter happens, panic ensues and the one side that recovers it's wits faster will get the advantage.


It's hard to believe but there's one Russian FPV drone out there ramming multiple Baba Yagas successfully with a stick.


Russian ZU-23-2 dual AA machine gun is being used to shoot down drones like Baba Yagas. The Ukrainians also have this Soviet era weapon to do the same, which also includes taking down Gerans on their side.

According to the Russian MoD, the AFU sent 15,000 personnel to defend Kurakhovo, comprising 26 battalions. Over 12,000 is never coming back along with 3,000 pieces of equipment and 40 tanks. If true that's a horrific casualty rate of 80 percent.

EW doesn't prevent an FPV drone from hitting it's target. What EW does is to prevent an FPV drone hitting targets with high precision. As vehicles become increasingly armored and grilled, it becomes necessary to strike weak parts of the vehicle for a successful hit or the vehicle will brush it off, especially tanks. This is where a fiberoptic FPV drone works, where it can carefully maneuver around the vehicle to strike it's weak spot. For lightly armored vehicles and equipment, a wireless drone would be sufficient.
