The War in the Ukraine

These Western sock puppets in Ukraine did not mind losing privileged access to their largest trading partner i.e. Russia by signing the association agreement with the EU. As long as they personally profited it did not matter to them that the country of Ukraine sank.
Russia subsidised Ukraine with cheap gas to the tune of $100 billion over several decades. What has Ukraine gotten since Maidan?

One thing I've learned is that Third World elites rarely make decisions that are good for the country. It's either about narrow personal enrichment or emotional decisions of "national aspirations". That's what Ukraine did in 2014. Yes, the CIA didn't help matters but there was fertile soil for them waiting. A contemporary example would be Armenia abandoning Russia in a desperate bid to join the EU because it fancies itself a Western country.

A full invasion of Ukraine by Russia in 2014 was simply impossible.
I'm not sure about that. While Russia was weaker back then, Ukraine's army was a total ramshackle mess. Putin could probably have overrun the country if he committed himself to it, certainly the eastern half, but he wavered and ultimately only settled on Crimea. I think Putin still believed everything could be worked out diplomatically back then, and naïvely trusted the West. A mistake he probably rues today.

Perhaps H-6N with it recessed belly could.
Launched from TU-22m ? Not even sure it can carry these. Using a Tu-95 is suicidal or there is no air defense left.
According to the Ryazan air museum, seems the good ol' Tu-16 could carry them already, apparently?. Must be hell of a tight fit, though.

This is a sign of weakness, unfortunately.

Ukrainian leaders and bureaucrats are richer than ever, being paid in euros and dollars directly by Western governments and are free to travel the world and buy luxury products. The elite of Kiev and Liviv have a normal life and are better than ever as they have never been hit by missiles or bombs.
While the poor are sent to die in the war and Russia is attacked daily and continues to be invaded in Kursk without reacting appropriately.

All this because Putin never responded to Ukraine's escalations and continues only with the same occasional attacks on power stations and warehouses with little real impact on Ukraine's combat capacity, as weapons, drone parts, electricity and fuel for war continue to come from Europe and the US with impunity, no threat.

At the moment, it is profitable for Ukraine to continue provoking and humiliating Russia. Nobody cares about the situation of the poor in Ukraine and their industry, they are just cannon fodder destined to suffer. What really controls Ukraine is the elite that sold the country to the US and this elite is profiting and safe, as it is clear that Putin is afraid to act as he should.
Focusing on the elite to the detriment of everyone else is exactly what led to US' humiliation in Afghanistan.

Maybe US has really committed this mistake again, but it will be painful in terms of losses in men, land and resources alike. The Russians will keep consuming anyone who doesn't stand up to the Maidan elites, until the elites become so hated, they cannot mobilize or request any support anymore. Then there will be total land surrender like in Afghanistan with a handful of elites clinging to planes (or in this case more likely trucks and helicopters) to get out.

According to my friend who reads Russian media, there was a genuine belief that a diplomatic solution could be found. Russia was willing to go as far as allowing Ukraine to enter into an economic partnership with the EU as long as there were no NATO partnerships/memberships/bases.

It has been pointed out by others before, without any significant alternative levers, Russia was left with invade now or invade later after NATO equipment (and possibly personnel) has been fully integrated.
