The War in the Ukraine

Given that the Kornet EM was already credited with a 8-10 range, when launched from the ground, this might/should have an even greater reach from, say, 5-8 km launch altitude. The Maverick missile was credited with a 14-27 km reach, when launched at mach 0.5, depending whether it was a low altitude launch or a 20k feet launch. So this Kornet derived missile might be able to do ~20 km from a drone. Certainly, use from such not-so-cheap drones would have to involve some safety distance. Enough that at least AMRAAM/Sparrow/Sidewinder class SAMs can't reach it. Perhaps even some of the Iris-T variants, given that it's unlikely SAMs would be positioned right next to the frontline.

Seems Russian tanks are finally getting the Arena-M APS, wonder if it has any improvements over the original series. Interestingly, the first tank spotted with it at the factory is a T-72B3M

Whole video is interesting though, as it is a tour around UVZ's facilities.

I wonder if they can adjust the software to deal with slow moving FPVs, surely would be a better solution than turtle tanks

Slow moving drones would be hard, but slow approach risks the drone being intercepted with other means.
Programming the aps sensors to deal with Fast moving drones should be no issue.
Bigger issue might be fact that aps systems in general dont have too many charges. 3, for example, is too few. Thats how many trophy has. its better than zero, but still not adequate. Dont know how many charges arena has.

There's also the fact if you start targetting slow moving objects, birds/people etc become at risk.

Well by slow I meant relatively slow compared to ATGMs, if they can handle typical FPV speed then it is already great, the difficulty being harder to filter the signal out from background and higher chance of misfire.

As for limit on number of charges; How many FPV attacks can a turtle tank absorb on average? In comparison 3 APS charges may not be so bad
