I feel terrible for the people in Ukraine. If what Time Magazine wrote is true regarding Ukraine soldier's average age is 43, then it's really difficult for any sane person to see Ukraine winning this conflict against Russia. For one, Ukraine does not have any meaningful advantage over Russia. Not in military fighting population, not in industry, not in economy, not in artillery. All the Ukrainians are doing is the unending hope that Western Europe and the mighty U.S. will be with them through infinity and beyond. They have already lost 20% or so of Ukrainian lands to the Russian invaders, lost so many young men to the slaughter house and the idiot they call President Zelensky keeps insisting to retake some towns and other key strategic area without any inkling of the many lives going to be lost, and the one's already lost, all done for political posturing to show the west and it's patrons in Europe that they are somehow making inroads and winning, to continue receiving aids that's going to dry up pretty soon.

I have to agree with you. Ukraine is a meat grinder and there is no way for Ukraine to win militarily. The war is lost for them.
Zelensky is refusing to to surrender presumably under the false hope that nato will sonehow come to his aid and turn things around. Not going to happen. The US and Europe is blindly financing tje arms and the war selling him false hope.

I think the sad thing is that this could have been avoided if the March 2022 negotiations had been allowed to carry through instead of caving to US and UK pressure. A far better deal than whatever he will be able to get now.

There are rumours that Zelensky wants to sack Zalushny. It seems his recent interview wasn't well received

It look like the high brass are starting to eat each other... Beside not having the tools in hands to defeat Russia I cannot see the wrongs of Zalushny. He got a stalemate for one year against Russia without real air support and got himself stuck to follow stupid PR stunt from political decisions.

What can he do ?

I cannot see a reason, unless a need to save face for Zelensky or some identifications of a risk of mutiny.

The West wins by using Ukrainian blood to wear down Russian military complex. All the aid the west has provided so far was never intended to win the war, but to prolong the suffering between the two people. Thats it. Ukrainian people were never going to be the winners.

Putin/Russian General Staff's strategy in the Chechen wars was to win the peace by destroying a generation of able bodied men. Future insurgents were to be killed in the combat line of the second chechen war.

I suspect the same approach is being taken in Ukraine, given Russian military doctrine- If Ukraine is reduced to using 50 year men to fight this war then this objective will have been achieved. If they occupied Ukraine without destroying future insurgents they would be controlling a hornet's nest like the US in Iraq/Afganistan.

???the russian military complex has never been stronger in decades. the initial thought was actually economic collapose of russia, but that didn't happen as a result of rising oil price and goods coming in from China.

it seems increasingly like that ukraine is the one that will run out of money, even before it runs out of men. very expensive to keep a huge army running when your economic productions is half of what it used to be. there is a reason why zelensky is begging or credits. i think the danger now is zelensky wont have enough money to keep his war machine going, the results would be catastrophic.

There's a big difference... Ukrainian nationalist that left to the west will probably not return to Russian occupied territories. It will be pro Russian settlers that will comeback like in Mariupol and the remaining pro-Russian Ukrainians.
