Admiral Sokolov getting interview

Clearly his resurrection completely returns him to the state before his untimely death on Ukrainian strike.

Indeed, and as we all know, both sides lie and to claim his death without proof was stupid and premature, but I would ask you to make the same fun about such IMO even more stupid claims from the Russian side like we "downed a British Storm Shadow including its dead crew!" ;)

Bridge linking Kharkhiv to the frontline in the village of Senkovo, gets destroyed by a Russian laser guided munition. This might be an Orlan or a UAV lasing for a Kh-38 or similar missile. Or it can be a Krasnopol or other laser guided artillery.

I take the view that with non-English source/speakers, strange statements are often a result of lost-in-translation or just simply poor language.

"Downed a British Storm Shadow including it's dead crew" could possibly also mean they "Downed a British SS including the aircraft and it's (the aircraft) crew died"

The statement by itself may sound stupid but we can be generous in how we read them ...

Yes, both sides have been rather egregious in their statements to date.

Maybe, but the same can't be said about his warships that were recently destroyed. I think that mr president would rather get those resurrected rather than an admiral.

I remember the news about the crew of Moskva showed in tv when the warship was already on the bottom of the sea.

Are they survivors or prior to deployment is unfortunately the only thing that can be debated.

Do you value people or hardware ? You seem quite different than those people i know who care more about people than destroyed hardware e.g Leopard.. crew survived = win, regardless that the loss of the tank grind whatever mission it carries to halt. The admiral survived means he can learn or maybe face trial for his negligience.

I'm confused.

This Ukrainian advantage in artillery that some people claim is basically a myth.

Ukraine has NATO long range 52 calibers artillery like the French CAESAR. But it is not like Russia does not have long barrel artillery. Russia has the 49 calibers Giatsint-B, and the tracked 54 calibers 2S5 Giatsint-S. Both CAESAR and Giatsint-S can fire base bleed ammo. The range of both artillery units with base bleed ammo is roughly similar.

Also, not all the NATO artillery Ukraine is operating is long barreled. A lot of the systems they are using are M109 Paladin systems with 39 calibers length.

As for HIMARS, Russia has Tornado-S, which uses 300mm rockets compared with the 227mm rockets used by HIMARS.

What Russia lacks is enough units in service to cover the huge amount of front. But Ukraine has much the same problem, only in their case it is much worse because they have less artillery units and shells. Also, Russia had hundreds of units of 2S5 Giatsint-S artillery in storage when the conflict started. They can just take them out of storage. The Russians have also been upgrading the Smerch launchers into Tornado-S which can fire GLONASS rounds. This can be seen increasingly like with the recent Russian attack on that Ukrainian railway.

Don't the majority of Krasnopol rounds used have 25km of range, while the range of most Excaliburs used have 40km?
As for the Tornado-S I don't think we have seen any confirmed pinpoint strikes from this system the entire war? At the very least it seems very rare. How much of the 9М542 rocket is really produced/used?
Also the reconnaissance satellites feeding the Ukrainians might be key to HIMARS successes.
"Problem" with satellite targeting compared to drone targeting is that the former won't give any videos recording the strikes.

Not saying the Ukrainians necessarily have the advantage in artillery, but they do have advantages.

What is the majority of Ukrainian artillery nowadays tho ? dont they still use considerable amount of Soviet era guns ? Also regarding excaliburs, how many western guns compatible with it.

While Krasnopol is basically can be used by any Russian 152mm artillery like Akatisya and MSTA's. Meaning every single battery Russian had can fire precision munitions while the Ukrainian precision munition battery are limited to Western guns. thus loss of a say MSTA battery would not degrade Russian ability to keep spamming Krasnopols as everyone with 152 mm gun can use it.

While loss of say M777 or M-109 is a loss of precision strike ability within that battery's coverage.
