The War in the Ukraine

Rough estimation of Russian casualties based on Russian own data.

This guy doesn't do math.

Payout is a small fraction of the total compensation package. There are pension (if dead), medical, hotel, transport, ceremonial services, reimbursement for next of kin to visit... etc. Not to mention, in the military, if an Mbr is injured, there will be escorts, and their salary, temporary duty payments... etc. The actual payout would probably account for 10-15% or even less of the total compensation. So based on that number seems like WIA is about 75k and KIA 35k. This is probably closer to the real estimate.

Not to mention, this is the source from Ukraine and Forbe. The numbers are very likely fabricated.

Basically "intelschizo" is a good descriptor of his content and the minds of anyone unironically posting this drivel LOL

Missed posting this 24 hours ago. Having data overflow issues.

Ukrainian tank repair plant in Kharkhiv has been hit by missiles.

24 hours later, another strike on the plant was conducted. A bonus was that one of the storage areas used to store repaired vehicles was also an ammo depot and that lit right up.

Accurate fire support from a 120mm mortar shell from the Vega fire support unit. Not sure but this unit could be composed of ex-Wagnerians.

What remains of a Ukrainian Nona-SV. Pleasantly surprised they have this. Captured from the Russians previously?

Beaver, aka the Chechen Akhmat-Yug unit, has been one of those factors that has made the southern front a living FPV drone hell. Here are attacks on AFU vehicles near Rabotino.

If they have done all that to damage two old ships in repairs... it's a waste of ressources. Would have been way better to do all that to destroy a better and active target. That would be a a lot of stuff used on assets that are not influencing the course of the war.

Only thing that would make sense military would be the presence of nuclear tipped torpedo on tha kilo and the hope to set them up.

The funniest thing in this thread is that you don't even need to read the content of the thread, you just need to look at which posters are posting, and you can deduce what's happening.

Back in February when Russia was on the retreat, it was all pro-Ukraine posts. Since then, those posters have become largely silent until a few incidents like the above pop up.

ouch. That plant got long history behind it. Remains to be seen if Russian will do the same to Lvov tank plant.
Pretty sure that plant that is in Kharkiv had been targeted by the Russians since 2022

Btw, on the regards of Naval Attack in Crimea few days ago, the damage was quite recoverable and nothing serious right?

From what I’ve observed, Russia is not bound to lose based, necessarily, on anything that Ukraine is doing (offensively), but based, more likely, on what Russia is not doing, or has not, as of yet, done!

However, has anyone established what “winning” actually entails for Russia? Is it the complete territorial control and integration of those formerly Ukrainian territories that it has annexed (by decree)? And, therefore, would “losing” for Russia be a failure to achieve this? And, in what time-frame?

I always find it funny when posters (not just you) criticize Russian strategy when nobody really knows what Russia's endgame is.

My hypothesis is that Russia's initial objective was similar to the Chinese invasion of Vietnam in 1979, but when NATO called their bluff, they decided to go all in and militarily occupy as much Ukrainian territory as they can, including the entirety of Ukraine if possible.

In this process, Russia is also undertaking a revamp of its military command, doctrines, and industrial organization. This is a long and slow process that will take years if not decades to complete. A lot of these changes, due to institutional inertia, will only be possible after painful military setbacks.

That depend on willingness of the Russians. For me Minsk is practically like Bonhomme Richards, the hull maybe intact but restoring her would probably beyond economical repair. Rostov on Don may need a new hull section to replace what was hit. The front must be cut up and new frontal section have to be build and delivered to suitable dock, It can be expensive.

Way better to say they will repair them, put some shelters on and lights so more attacks are spent on them... they are still building new kilo, probably better to just add one to the list if it's lot of repairs. It's still a pain to lose these ships in repair but Crimea is within the warzone and static targets are way to juicy to miss.

Getting that Kilo to BSF tho would be some task. Black sea is closed so the Moscow canal have to be used but dunno how much capacity is there to deliver an entire submarine there.
