The first Challenger tank fell victim.

View attachment 118201

It's quite recognizable from the bore extractor and apparent gunsight on the gun mantlet. Other recognizable feature is the barrel reference system at the muzzle.

Apparently Rabotino. What killed it tho ? I guess it's artillery. Which in this war appears to killed more tanks than tank vs tank battle.

As it seems …

If you missed that Lancet attack on the CAESAR here it is again with the proper explanation. The driver managed to dodge the first attack only to throw his vehicle into a ditch. While being attended, the CAESAR was finished off by a second Lancet.

Interesting how the moment a Challenger is lost it is instantly confirmed by multiple western media outlets all at the same time.

While when Leopard tanks were going kaput there was a concerted effort by the same outlets to deny it, including claims they were Russian tanks. EU bias in favour of their wunderwaffe?

How it started:
So, giving Challenger 2s to Ukraine is not tokenism: it could be a game changer. The Russians, though past masters of tank warfare, have shown the world how not to do it; we can now give Ukraine the heavy armour required to do the reverse. We have helped prevent Ukraine losing the war. We must now help them win it.

How it's going:
The burning Challenger 2’s turret was still attached to its hull, suggesting there is still hope for the four-man tank.

Good reminder. I've been waiting for that article to be reposted. But I would like to add the article I find most informative about the 'calibre' of Western war reporting:

British-made tanks are about to sweep Putin’s conscripts aside

As a former tank commander, I know the Challenger 2 vastly outmatches what’s left of Russia’s armour

As a former tank commander, I can say one thing for certain: Putin’s demoralised conscripts are utterly unprepared for the shock action now hitting their lines. Ukrainian armoured formations are beginning to meet Russian forces in battle, and they are going to

. I am confident for one simple reason: Ukraine will follow the Western ideology of manoeuvre warfare in a combined arms context, while the Russians will follow Soviet doctrine, relying on attrition and numbers. The Russians will find that the armour of Western tanks is far more resilient than flesh and bone, they will die in great numbers, and they will lose.

The Russians do not follow this doctrine. They are given strict roles in the execution of plans drawn up at the top, and cannot change them even when things are going badly wrong. This has been made evident time and time again in Ukraine, where Moscow’s tanks have all too often been blown to pieces without firing a round. [...]

The Challenger and Leopard tanks leading the spearhead vastly outmatch what’s left of Russia’s heavy armour, while sophisticated precision artillery is providing withering fire for the advance. [...]

There will certainly be no rescue from the air. The Russian air force should be a massive operational threat, but it seems that its pilots have opted to hide in the confines of the officers’ mess rather than face the excellent Ukrainian air defences. Sometimes, cowardice is the most sensible option. [...]

The final and perhaps the most important element of an effective armoured fighting force is morale. The Ukrainians have this in spades. The Russian conscripts have virtually none. [...]

With Ukrainian canniness, Western intelligence and equipment and a smattering of good fortune, I expect what’s left of the Russian army to be nothing more than a speed bump on the way to liberating Crimea, pushing to the Russian border and chucking Putin’s war criminals out of Ukraine once and for all.

I would expect the advance elements of Ukraine's 'counter-offensive' to be sipping tea in Crimea some time in July at the latest, according to the predictions of this seasoned military officer. Who only needs 8 weeks to create a force capable of breaking through multi-layered defenses.

A video of a Russian kamikaze Lancet drone hitting a Ukrainian T-64BV tank has been published. The crew of the T-64BV tank wanted to evacuate the wrecked Leopard 2A4 tank. Orekhovskoe direction.
