They carry out a study regarding the number of Russian tanks available, one of the conclusions is that the Russians have not significantly decreased the number of tanks in their units than a year ago. What happens is that now they are much older models than there were a year ago, with less well-trained crews and in a worse state of maintenance.
The tanks that are delivered to the Russian army are of a worse quality than the ones they replace.
It is estimated that right now the Russians still have 1,300 main battle tanks at the front. Many of them need urgent repairs and scheduled maintenance that is not done. The tanks that the Russians produce are in their vast majority modernizations of those in storage. Until now they have modernized those that were in better condition, so it is assumed that as time passes it will take more time to recondition tanks in worse condition
The study also concludes that it takes the Russians one to two months to return one of these (stored) main battle tanks back to service. It is also said that they are not capable of meeting the monthly ratios of modernized cars that they say.
Taking this study and its conclusions, we could understand why the Russians have been unable to carry out offensive actions in 2023, the attrition of Russian armored units is very large, which means that Ukraine has worn Russia enough, to let them with a mediocre armored force, to protect its borders from the nation's main threat, which is NATO
