Lately I’ve run into reports that Ukraine has achieved tube artillery superiority over Russia due to the latter’s rationing of its artillery ammunition. By tapping into US’s vast stockpiles of cluster ammunition Ukraine will be able to sustain its rates of fire for some time to come. This echoes what M. Koffman shared some 2-3 weeks ago. I read it today in the Financial Times and earlier this week on Drive:

Doesn't make sense by any metric. Then there is the fact that cluster munition doesn't do well against fortified positions

Russia has huge stockpiles of cluster ammunition dating back from Soviet times that they can use which dwarf whatever the US can supply Ukraine. And in fact the Russians started using them after Ukraine started using US supplied artillery cluster ammunition. It is just going to increase both military and civilian heavy injuries. The bomblets will be spread all over the area of engagement in Ukraine. The after effects will endure for decades. As if the anti-personnel mines were not bad enough already.

Armies using lots of armored vehicles will also be less susceptible to this ammunition. And guess who is using the infantry heavy and armor lite configuration right now. Ukraine and the US basically handed over the Russians another card they can use to defeat Ukraine more easily.

Yeah, someone posted this article in this thread a few days ago. I don't think it's a very good article personally.

Intense battles over Staromaiorske, and East of Robotino. Both Russians, United States, and Ukraine report that major parts of the Ukrainian Army have been committed. Reportedly, the 10th Corps.

Simultaneously, multiple outlets report that Russia's offensive in the North, near Svatove, is going well. Russians have crossed the Zherebets river in multiple places, and have started to capture several villages. This was previously mentioned by @Temstar

Still nothing concrete from Bakhmut. Clashes over Klesheevka and the wider sector is continuing. Ukrainians are confirmed to be controlling the high ground near Klesheevka, reportedly some elite Ukrainian units have been committed (like Azov).

WSJ news piece about the use of cheap drones by ukraine (and russia). I am surprise that these relatively small drones are capble of taking out armor as the videos I remember seeing in the past has been mostly of them just droping grenades onto infantry.

So the Pentagon and Ukraine say the main thrust of the offensive has begun. Ukraine according to some reports are slowly approaching the main defense lines. They say it'll last up to 3 weeks so lets see.
