Very close up video of the hedgehog armour on the top of a German PzH2000 in Ukrainian Army service.
Interesting armor addon for small bomblets and less cumbersome than cope cage. Can they be installed on curved surfaces ??? I think we will see up armored self-propelled howitzer emerging in the next decade with active protection system.

Is this another variant of the Storm Shadow? I thought the Storm Shadow was larger and more box-like in shape.

The beast and the beauty. Russian reporter beside the crashed Ukrainian Storm Shadow.

Sorry about brain dead auto correction.

Very close up video of the hedgehog armour on the top of a German PzH2000 in Ukrainian Army service.

Not very effective as shown.

Lancet strike on Pzh 2000.

Destruction of Pzh2000 by the Russian 200th Brigade a month ago near Artemovsk.

Unrelated additions.

Artillery from the Russian 132nd Brigade hits spotted Ukrainian infiltration groups with night vision.

Convoy of the Ukrainian 23rd Mechanized Brigade falls into a minefield laid by the Russian 40th Marines Brigade of the Pacific Fleet. The vehicles kept on going and going until everyone got struck.

I haven't followed all the details of the war closely. Can anyone update how is the Ukranian offensive going? The western media articles are portraying that the offensive is slow but still gaining more ground. Is this the case? What is the big picture assesment of the war at the moment?

Can Russia hold on to the land it already controls? What about the prospect of making new territorial gains? Or are they losing the war?

Short answer: What ukrainian offensive?

If the US have to provide cluster munitions to Ukraine when NATO's official narrative have been "We're almost there! For real this time." since when Russia began their SMO then it shouldn't take much effort to determine who's "winning" the war. Worse case scenario is we're dealing with a stalemate.

Ukrainian APC tries to run the forest line to the positions of the Russian 40th Marine Brigade, and ran into a mine then destroyed by direct fire.

Ukrainian APC and positions bombarded by the Russian 70th Motorized Rifle regiment. The regiment consists of half Orthodox Christians and half Moslems working together and had been in the thick of the battle in Zaporozhye. To add, the 70th, 71th, 291st and 1453rd Regiments, have been what some Russian bloggers refer to as the 'Orekhiv Spartans' for holding the Orekhiv frontline.

Attempt by a Ukrainian recovery vehicle to recover another vehicle went badly when it got hit by artillery.

M777 taken out by Lancet.

Lancet hits the rear of a Ukrainian tank where it is most vulnerable. If the Lancet has the HEAT warhead the damage to the tank would be severe and often left abandoned.

ATGM reaches out to Ukrainian tank and scores a devastating hit. The ammo must have exploded. This from a special battalion of the 1st Donetsk Army, which I guess might be the Somali Battalion. Anything 1st Donetsk Army or DPR are Donetsk or Eastern Ukrainians now sided with the Russian Federation.

Some news that the Ukrainian 128th Mountain Assault Brigade has been withdrawn from Pyaktihatki, an indication that the brigade has less than 30% strength. The brigade last conducted infantry wave attacks which ran into hidden minefields and hit with artillery crossfire. This brigade continues it's bad run on luck, being in the Kherson fire bag last summer and then overrun in Soledar by Wagner in winter.

The AFU offensive in the south has been pretty lackluster thus far. In the first 2-3 weeks they focused on assaults using armored columns across the open fields of Zaporizhia. This resulted in heavy losses due to to Russian minefields, airstrikes, and artillery; with only a few villages re-captured and a ton of lost NATO supplied equipment to show for it. Recently I believe they've pivoted to smaller scale infantry attacks which has resulted in some incremental gains, but likely at the cost of higher casualties. The AFU still hasn't reached the first Russian line of defense so I think Russia's position in zaporizhia is relatively secure for now. I don't see the offensive on that front going anywhere fast unless the AFU can find a way to negate Russia's artillery and airpower advantage in that region.

There also appears to be an AFU offensive around the flanks of Bakhmut but its too early to tell if that will have any momentum.
