The War in the Ukraine

What are the chances Prigozhin stepping down his action btw knowing the odds aren't in favour of him currently?

Prigozhin came out like 10 mins ago saying they refuse any orders from the president, FSB, or military and will not lay down their arms. Seems more likely this is going to end in someone dying one way or the other.

Too much smoke for a helicopter.

maybe an oil or fuel depot.

...What is Medvedev doing?

Putin better hope he is on his side. Because if that is not the case, the balance of forces might actually favor Prigozhin right now...!

Already supporting Putin side.

What a shitshow!

The russians weren't hard enough against the ukranians and now they have to fight hard against others russians.

The west is enjoying this and certainly will encourage division in Russia. China must stay alert. If Russia falls, the west will make them vassals and demand obedience to its rules and China could lose an important ally and be the next.

It's a shitshow but Putin and Russia will be fine... Interior Ministry forces (MVD) like the SOBRs and OMON have 100,000 personnel not to mention regular military units, and I doubt all of Prigozhin's 25K men will back him 100%. A 200 million ruble bounty on Prigozhin's head should end this rather quickly.

A little while ago, there was the attempt to integrate Wagner into the Russian military command, Wagner personnel were given contracts to sign, this didn't go down well with Prigozhin and likely his senior commanders who enjoyed both the prestige and independence of being outside the Russian military bureaucracy, yet they depended on Russian military logistics for ammo and supplies... sometimes you can't have ot both ways.

Just like what plawolf said there is much smoke, while social media is blowing this up, that photo of a down chopper could be from anywhere, maybe even come from last year.

This whole thing is too sus to me, if Russian forces really wants to kill off Wagners would they just fire one missile at them and let them have a rebellion? Won't they try to decisively disarm Wagners while they still have element of surprise?

Seriously, even civil war KMT was not this fucked up....
Russians can always make unexpected moves when you are not expecting them.
But this highlights Russia's current predicament: some people have lost patience with the current stalemate on the front line, and they oppose peace talks based on the status quo, hoping to invest more resources to quickly and completely end the war.

Prigozin will undoubtedly be punished, but this is also a shameful day for Putin: his authority has been questioned, and those who are dissatisfied with the status quo (even if they are reckless) have taken action.

Perhaps in the end, Putin will have to act according to Prygozin's demands - that is, increase the stakes and win a complete victory.

If Putin continues to face the war with the attitude of Opportunism, this kind of thing is likely to continue to happen.

Not a single politician, general, or anybody of any importance, has sided with Prigozhin.

Every single voice that's spoken up has voiced their support for Putin.

This is a dark day for Putin, because he allowed things to get to this point, but his authority is now beyond question. The country seems to be firmly behind him. The army is firmly behind him.

I remember how until Thursday, everyone here was saying Prygozin's antics were all information warfare :D

What a joke this has all become.

Prygozin isn't wrong about Shoigu being a corrupt paper pusher.
The Ukrainian War, is likely going to be the last campaign Gerasimov and Shoigu will be involved in. I would not be surprised to see a changing of the guard within a few years of major hostilities ending.

But that's just my opinion and read on the situation.
