Just a small note:
I found that the discussion of general strategy on the (existing) pages 1568 - 1570 of this thread was relatively clear-headed.
It wasn't just reports of combat activity (which can be helpful), but there was a discussion of the aims and strategy of the combatants, and their ability to implement them. These kinds of exchanges raise the quality of the thread, and encourage people to think about the larger picture. There is a massive fog-of-war in this conflict, but people try and evaluate it nonetheless.
