The Quad meeting ended without a joint statement. Number one bootlicker Australia is outright unnerved at the prospect of sacrificing her economic ties with China to appease US' foreign policy demand. India is still naively weighting how much benefit she extract from US for agreeing to join in. RCEP is going to be singned in this coming November, 230Duderte gave the greenlighht for China and Philippines to co develop gas fields in SCS, Indonesia and Malaysia busy courting Chinese investors. This is the worst possible time to be pushing for an Asian NATO.
Hi hullopilllw,

Duderte gave the greenlighht for China and Philippines to co develop gas fields in SCS,

The main reason, our Malampaya gas field will run out of oil/gas in 2030, need to look for a replacement ASAP. The agreed sharing is 60/40 in favor of the Philippine. A comparison The Malampaya agreement is 70/30 in favor of Shell with deduction of invest cost/ drilling cost with tax free incentive, if you do the calculation the total Philippine share is less than 12% with a sovereignty guarantee clause if the investment /project doesn't bear fruit. Now who is the one implementing the debt trap story. Such western hypocrisy this narrative is never mention in the western MSM.

Hi Hendrik_2000,

The recent speech of President Duterte yesterday highlight that importance, both the Russian and Chinese vaccine, BUT indicated a preference for the latter.

Guess the Chinese vaccine is sprinting to the final end of trial and soon available across SEA a good way to cement relation with SEA and mitigate the suffering of people Since they don't have good health care system and helter skelter response to Covid 19 people suffer

I think there is an agreement for an emergency supply, Duterte had been saying that he will be providing a list of possible candidate, first to be given are the front liners and security forces, from the rumors I received half a million dosages will arriving in Nov.

Maybe they can consider having the Philippines another manufacturing hub for the vaccines.

Hi Tam

Unfortunately the latest news is that the vaccine trial had been abandon, Sinopharm had decline to be interviewed, from my limited understanding and info, our Health Dept prefer the Western brand and maybe had put some obstacle along the way. Its a subtle form of corruption if its true then President Duterte need to intervene now. There is a mafia inside the dept, the western pharma habit of bribing is prevalent.

It will not affect the promise vaccine coming this November, China will honor its promise. I maybe over playing it's significant ,The problem is without our FDA approval from our Health Dept, It will not be sold to the general public and will be deem as unsafe and unproven. The only avenue is a state to state agreement to bypass this impasse.

From it recent speech, Duterte stated that Russia plan and is negotiating to set up a vaccine factory in the Phil, but he hint its preference for a China vaccine, let see what happen , you can't embarrassed your President this way especially after publicly announcing it.

My understanding is that they are going with Sinovac instead, which has been the most promising of all coronavirus vaccines.

Hi Tam,

That will arrive in Nov as promise by China and we can choose any of the three current phase three vaccine, that's how china value their relationship with the Philippine, I think this is finance thru a Chinese grant, but the commercial availability is under question until our FDA grant its approval.

I wouldn't be surprised the US will start advocating anti-Chinese pogroms like they did over a hundred years ago to rid Chinese influence in Asia.
