Reminds me of an april fool's joke a few years back, when a local Newspaper in the capitol of Wisconsin ran a fake story saying the retired battleship USS Wisconsin had been airlifted by 20 helicopters to a lake next to the capitol of Wisconsin for permenent display. Enough yokels bought the story that the Newspaper had to run a retraction.

Lol if that can be done why build aircraft carriers? Just get a bunch of helos to lift a airfield complex anywhere. They can be fuelled by lines extending from the complex itself

Which can actually lead to the first flying aircraft carrier. Just extend a couple of propellors from the side of the carrier and let it be lifted off the ground (or sea) and go to anywhere in the world at a much faster time.

This picture was said to have been taken in the south China sea, though you can see land in the background (or not sure if they are just noise).

It is South China Sea alright, and it is also just off the coast of Guangdong. Saw it on CJDBY.

Looking at scaffolding on those fans this looks to be the third unit and the first in China

In Ukraine we seem the second unit which wasn't far from being finished so I would think that the 2nd and 3rd units will be handed over next year in 2014

Since China started the 3rd without the first being commissioned suggests that such equipment is needed in PLAN and they have a important role for it

If there is a 3rd there must be a 4th which means 4 x Zubrs for PLAN is a very good quick reaction force for the amphibious forces

Easily they could launch a naval battalion of marines with these four crafts very good force

You know that there will be two Zubr's from Feodosiya and two from Huangpu...

Yes Franco-Russe, thats why I referred to the one at HP as the "3rd" kind of speak

but i wasnt sure if China was going to build the second lot of two units until we seen the construction pics i would have thought they are going to induct the two from Ukraine trial them and then make a decision on the two at China

well all the better!
