I believe they are just months away from getting this on sea trials

That means the one from Ukraine and this one from HP will be joining the PLAN in 2014 which will benefit the navy massively

Also means second one at HP can start maybe they can also get that one out too in 2014 which means all four Zubr added will increase the navy's capabilitys

Here are some recent pics and on the side I can see a coast guard vessals and also what looks like the bow section of a Type 056, now wether it's the 6th or 7th I am not sure but certainly there's a lot of activity going on there

But I think it's the 7th since the 6th is under build in the hallway with bow section already installed

Very nice update from HP

Another interesting thing to note is that a few years ago Greece has or was decommissioning its four Zubr Class crafts due to operational and logistical reasons, not sure what the status is but the current economic situation in Greece would really make sense that all four are no longer on service or retired

If that is the case it wouldn't be a bad idea for China to acquire these units give them a refit and overhaul and bring them up to PLAN needs and get them operational again, they could do this quite cheaply and quickly and would add another four quick and easy Zubr Class to PLAN inventory

Depends on what state those Greek Zubrs are in. If it's on the bad end, may not be cheaper than simply building a few new ones, though I'm not sure what the licensing terms are.

As JoshuaTree said, it depends on what shape they are in. Besides, it sounds like Greece is going to cannablize two to keep the other two viable. They may not want to sell them.

For my money, it is clear that the PLAN can turn these out fairly fast if they want to (presuming this one goes through trials fine), and so if I were them, and wanted more, I'd just build them.

Taiwan and its allies are concerned that these platforms may be used as part of Chinese offensive against Taiwan. According to sources, the banner displayed at the back of the Chinese built Zubr translates into "Reuniting the Motherland".

Just a heads up, that there has been speculation the unification banner was PSed... I don't think it was, personally. But also, there are other banners that have been rotated in its place for the last few days, including ones as mundane as "chinese built zubr". It's possible someone at the shipyard in charge of putting up encouraging banners for workers got a little enthusiastic.

(And "unifying the motherland" shouldn't be perceived as something to be worried about, given it probably wasn't a government request to put it up. If anything, consider the notion of "unification" as holding a similar place in chinese people's enthusiasm as "defending freedom" does for Americans)

Well four fully loaded Zubrs can deploy a over the horizon amphibious landing as per the carrying capacity one would carry 3 tanks, one 10 armoured vehicles, one 8 IFV and one 400 marines

That's 400 marines and more than 20 vehicles that's a small infantry battalion of marines

Landing fast and quickly they can establish a beech head and prepare the area for a larger landing or a even take control of a small island and gain superiority

These Zubrs will serve PLAN well having more gives even more firepower and landing capability

Greece, being part of both EU and NATO, will find it tough going to sell actual military equipment to China.
