During an open day event an IDF fighter while performing aerobatics caught fire. It managed to perform an emergency landing and both pilot and plane are safe, incident under investigation. Photographers at the event caught it with this photo:

On that note I myself often refer to F-CK-1 as IDF (and Tejas as LCA) out of habit. But when news specifically say IDF does it mean anything? I don't really know the implications.

The prudent assumption and the assumption I would always have is that they will fight on the same level as a very competent major non state actor, like Hezbollah. It's better to overestimate than to underestimate.

But in truth, the KMT already has a history of gross military incompetence, and it's hard to see that losing 95% of their territories would have had any positive impact on their military training and professionalism.
i dont underestimate them, i only judge by the training clips i see, what most make no sense

A third sentiment is the low faith that other Taiwanese would fight, at least for very long. ...

A fourth aspiration, which was voiced by a third of respondents, and not well articulated, was for the U.S. to simply “help.” ...
If I can summarize: those who want self-determination also don't want to fight for it and those who enjoy the current One-China-Two-Systems are more willing to fight for it.
