I've deleted a number of posts.

Some of them are stupidly juvenile, some of them are off topic and not very useful.

The topic of Taiwan's supposed sovereignty or lack of supposed sovereignty is not an issue that is here to be discussed because every time the discussion goes the same way and derails the thread.

Nor is what Japan's position on Taiwan's political status relevant here.

Believe it or not it is possible to have a productive discussion about the ROC military without making it a pissing contest.

I'm afraid you have gotten it backwards. If U.S. and its allies have not failed to renounce the option to militarily intervene over Taiwan, then China wouldn't need to modernize its military at its current pace and a peaceful reunification would be much more likely.

This post should also have been deleted.

If it happens with Taiwanese consent, then congrats.
Newsflash: It's happening... And the CCP isn't even doing it forcefully

I feel this is more than economics. This is the hug your enemy approach.

China says it supports Fujian in new integrated development with Taiwan: Xinhua
REUTERS/Stringer
BEIJING (Reuters) - China’s Communist Party says it will support Fujian province in exploring a new path for integrated development with Taiwan, state media reported on Tuesday.
Fujian is the province across a strait from Taiwan, which China regards as a wayward region.
In the next five years, China will help Taiwanese businesses participate in the Belt and Road Initiative and list on mainland markets, state news agency Xinhua reported, citing the ruling party’s recommendation for the economic and social development for 2021-2025.
The recommendation also said China will be on high alert for and be resolutely against separatist activities fighting for Taiwanese independence.

Perhaps a way to counter these US sales would be a pledge by PRC to respond with 2x of the equivalent weaponry. Example, if Taiwan buys 500 missiles, PRC bases 1000 in Fujian. If they buy 5 drones, PRC bases 10 in Fujian

"Weapons Ready", but no weapons included.
Fully armed drone sales would be a risky move.
However, considering the "Trump administration" is very likely on the verge of lame duck status. Can't discount the idea of being willing to burn everything down before going out.
